    Overconfidence?

We're looking great atm, our start of the season has been very impressive. The new signings have looked promising, Torres has been a lot better than most of us expected and things are very bright. I am feeling really good about this season and I can see that a lot of other people are too. This resulting in a lot of people around here expressing how great we are and that they expecting to win things.

Just playing the devils advocate saying that the season has just begun and even though things are looking great and we're very good at the moment there's still tons that can go wrong. Even though we're in the best shape in years and years I'm pretty confident to say that we're in for a very rough ride this season. Even though it should prove to be more successful than the last.

    Something to think about.

i understand that you wanted to try and keep peoples feet on the ground but i also think that for people like me, 25 and under, this is the first time really that we have seen our world famous club have a team and squad that we can shout about so i dont see any harm in letting our imaginations as to what we can achieve now and in years to come run away with us
    in january we were doomed.

in august we will rise from the ashes of ****e and march on again

The only thing that matters is that Rafa and the players don`t get overconfident. I don`t think it will happend to Rafa, and he`ll make sure it won`t happend to the players.
There is good cover in every position, so if someone starts to take it easy you can be sure that Rafa will put the player on the bench, or even in the stands.
The injuries the Gerrard and Carra is actually a good thing when it comes to this. Those two will be fired up when they come back, and they`ll let anybody know what`s expected of they.
It`s going to be a hard season, but`s that what it`s like challenging on all front.

meh, not worried about the players, the majority of them have their heads screwed on properly.

Just a bit concerned we may be expecting too much.

          Fully agree

There are way too many overconfident people on here at the moment, you only have to look at the posts with regard to the Derby game at the weekend. This is the type of game we will probably end up winning 1 - 0 not the "Humping" many think we will hand out.

It's going to be interesting to read people's reactions after our first inevitable defeat, probably away from home against someone ****.

We didn't have any striker like Torres since a young Owen or Fowler that can rip apart a packed defense. If Torres gets the right support then he will make sure we will win games like this very easy.
Just believe and you never know what will happen.

According to Benitez it's important not simply to go out to win but to go out prepared to win, which means players have to put in the same level of work on a daily basis. Anything else is unacceptable.

true, though we could do with another cb to help cover injuries.
i also think the fact we have done well without SG and Carra is a sign of our strength, they will know that they will have to maintain a top standard when they get back in.

One area I can see a weakness in is actual league success, pressure can really mount in the latter stages if its tight and I don't think anyone in the squad has got a major league title

The real test is when the Champions League begins in earnest.

Personally I believe that in the past we have made too many changes between the CL and PL games and this has affected the team adversely.

Another big test is against the likes of Everton and Blackburn, sides that will really test the physicality of the team.

I always believe we will win the league until it's impossible to do so, every season, just the way i'am i guess. Could be to do with the fact i got hooked on the reds in the late seventies/eighties when we always did look like winning!

Good thing about Benitez is he will never let the PLAYERS get arrogant.

I'm not worried about overconfidence, because being a Liverpool fan, you realise each season that crap can happen.

Sure I'm completely over the moon (I'm now floating somewhere between Neptun and Pluton) by the team's performances lately, but I do know that ****e can happen, so I keep my feet on the ground as much as possible (figure of speech okay ... I'm not a midget).

For instance: I was sure we had a great team and superb goalscorers in 2005/06 season ... But somewhere in between, we simply stopped scoring.

From all the experiences, we can play football out of this world, but can still lose or draw (and of course, there are ****s like Rob Styles out there to confirm this theory).

About players' overconfidence ... Nah ... Not worried a bit ... Benitez and his team picked the players with the "right mentality" and I'm sure they will keep their feet on the ground That's what I like about Rafa
