McLaren is the best manager in England. Those of you who slag him off are simply jealous of his success.

The fact that Ashley Young has been picked ahead of him is a disgrace.

Who cares though ? Pennant will be fresh for every game now.

Pennant, presumably. I do agree, though. The less our players are involved in internationals the better, but you have to feel for him seeing as he obviously wants the call-up.

                  There must be.

Pennant is playing at the highest level, against top players, and playing well. What the ****'s Ashley Young done to deserve a call up ahead of him? Bentley's been playing well but again at a lower level.

I'm not arsed about England or that **** McClaren but, in one way, I want our players to get the recognition they deserve. Yeah he'll get a rest and wotnot but it can't do his confidence any good. He deserves to be in.

He should do a Carra and "retire" from International duty as long as that numpty is in charge.

Yes, but that never prevented Terry from being picked.

At least he has never pulled out of an England squad citing "tiredeness" as an excuse AFTER being named in a squad, leaving England unable to call up a replacement for the U21 championship!!

My only worry would be if it gets Pennant down. He has had a perfect attitude in his time with us and I wouldn't want that to change. If he takes it the way he has all the other pressures/criticism since he arrived then it will only make him more determined which would be great for us.

indeed I thought at the time that was disgraceful behaviour by Bentley.

To be honest it was the timing after the deadline for selection rather than the action that was the problem. Really selfish and stupid.

Pulling out of the U21s for your long term benefit is in my opinion perfectly acceptable as long as you are up front about it.
