Getting better and growing more in confidence with every game.

Tough call to pick our best 11 at the moment.

Incredible tackle leading to Torres' goal; he absolutely owned Derby. what a player.

he's a beast in the middle of the park, so competitive with an engine that never stops. he closes players down and wins the ball as quickly as any player i've seen. his precision in tackling is similar to alonso's precision in passing, absolutely world class

He is the biggest reason to why we can play more attacking football than before.

Before we signed Mascherano we played with Alonso and one other central midfielder who had to play deeper than now because Alonso can't take care of the defensive midfield on his own. Masch can do that without any problem at all and that means that the other central midfielder can play higher up the pitch.

Masch is the key to our new attacking style.
Just believe and you never know what will happen.

According to Benitez it's important not simply to go out to win but to go out prepared to win, which means players have to put in the same level of work on a daily basis. Anything else is unacceptable.

he's pure quality- and with stevie out you can see how rafa may have built the team around alonso's attacking ability with a player similar to masher alongside him

(to begin with i always got the impression that had stevie left rafa wouldn't have been as devastated as us)

i hope we can keep hold of him- as i'm assuming that xabi will always be in rafa's plans and stevie has to play more often than not.

and lets face it masher could/should play for virtually any team (barca and real are always on the lookout for such a player to hold the midfield together) and 3rd choice may not be that appealing to him- and even a waste of his talents.

but then, will stevie just walk back into the team by default? seriously? how well has rafa done that we're even in a position to ask that question?

This is true. The man has been absolutely immense the last couple of games. Such an aggressive, determined player. I have no doubts that Lucas was brought in and Momo's contract extended as an insurance in the event Masch's deal is not made permanent, but that shouldn't pre-empt any attempts to keep him.

                          Whether it'll cost £11m to keep him or £18m, he's a bargain.

The tackle that gave Torres the ball defines just part of him. He's a fantastic passer, could be as good as Xabi. He stops the majority of the play reaching Carra and Agger and hes a monster.
