We should go for Alves. Contract is 6 month lessened, hence the price comes down. Unless he signs a new deal in the meantime, where he gets a better deal, but I would hope he is savvy enough to insert a release clause of say £10m for us, £12-15m for everyone else. Why pay £2m for Neill, when it can go towatds securing Rafa's top target.

It'll only be £10m if he forces their hand. But he's negotiating a new contract, now's the time to insist on inserting such a clause. If he doesn't he's a mug, and it show's he doesn't really want to come here. Hopefully Rafa already has had enough time with him and his agent to ensure that common sense prevails.

I am with Rodo on this one. Honestly can't see Rafa going back for Alves now or in January. My bet is that Lucas Neill will be pursued by Rafa again come January...Originally posted by Kopite_ColinIt'll only be £10m if he forces their hand.
