    Jerm appreciation

This is another appreciation thread for Pennant.

Watching him play against Derby, he looks a different player. I was amazed at his confidence on the ball and his superb balance.

He really is making it look easy at the present. And playing on the left also. He looked better than when he plays on the right.

He is going to be a very important player for us.

    Keep up the good work

what a lot of people don't seem to realise is that he's only 23 and still developing as a player.

        Queresma 25m,alves 30m,pennant 6.9m.

        Who would you rather have?

Laugh at me if you want but I can't imagine those other two playing any better than pennant tbh.

I know he could weigh in with a few goals but really,if i'm honest,if keeps on making the chances he is,i couldn't care less if he doesn't score at all.We finnaly have a front line to put away chances.

I wish he could learn how to cross a ball. He would be amazing if he could do that. He had worked himself into a few very good positions but the final ball wasn't good enough.

He had a very good game if you don't consider the above.
Just believe and you never know what will happen.

According to Benitez it's important not simply to go out to win but to go out prepared to win, which means players have to put in the same level of work on a daily basis. Anything else is unacceptable.

            Really?

Were we watching the same game?I thought his crossing and general all round play was excellent.Really hard to fault it.He crossed for Torres early on which was met with a header. As he did for Kuyt who also missed. They just a couple off the top of my head.

He put two on a plate for Dirk yesterday - and he (Dirk) fluffed them both.

What I think he lacks is confidence to get past his man and get a shot in himself. I can't ever remember a time when he's done it. Plenty of times he has a one-on-one with the full back and is content to get the ball to somebody else when he should be more direct and selfish and have a go himself. He's playing well enough to do it but somehow lacks the confidence.

I thought his crossing was excellent but yes it would be nice to see a few shots in the match. There was one where he came inside and could have had a pop on his left boot but chose to pass instead.

and his passes are sooo delightful

The problem with the crosses to Kuyt was it went a little bit behind Kuyt and not infront of him. I know that I'm a little pedant but that small things is very important. I don't even know if the balls was meant to Kuyt because on both accasions we had another player a few yards behind him in a better open position.

Agreed. There were times when he was 1 on 1 and I was screaming for him to have the confidence to take the man on and go for goal. That said he had a very good game.

It's time for me to do a complete about-turn regarding Pennant and treat myself to a big slice of humble pie.

I was dead against his signing and this time last year thought I was going to be justified. How wrong I was.

This steady, almost continual improvement from Pennant has been a delight to watch. He must keep it up though, and I'd also like to see him put an end to that rather pathetic streak of small-man syndrome petulance.
Thanks very much for being ‘This Mornings’ Farmer’

I have to say, begrudgingly, that pennant......deserves...his ....place...
Ah well, fair play to the lad, if he continues to prove his worth then good on him, once again Rafa has proved to me what a good manager he is.
I will stick to Footie Manager.

p.s - I cant fooking wait for that next month, first time ever I wont have to make wholesale changes to our squad (or even any)!!!!
