Only kidding mate, he has stepped up big time after a slow start to last season. One of the most improved players under Rafa and the great thing is he seems to have improved fairly consistently game on game over the last 8 months or so.

I meant this calendar year as the whole of 2007 so far, not just this season

[QUOTE=Quinncy;652170]It`s amazing he can`t get in the England set up!!!!!![/QUOTE

i think the reason he doesn't get picked is because of his criminal record coz its the only reasonable explanation I can think of, but TBH I'd be glad if he never got picked./ International football is a joke

Maybe it`s because McClaren was Fergiescums understudy at UTD.

Does Terry not have a criminal record too? And Woodgate?

I've just got my humble pie out the oven...I'll have to eat a slice or two.

He's improved loads in the past 12 months and has impressed me despite the concerns I had about signing him.

I don't even know if the balls was meant to Kuyt because on both accasions we had another player a few yards behind him in a better open position.

I always thought the idea was to cross the ball into the right area rather than the exact location of a striker?

When he runs into the centre and mazes his way round players, he reminds me of Messi. If only he would have a few 1-2s and try a shot or run into the box. He would be penalty go getter extraordinaire!

Liverpool's Pennant happy with personal form
                        tribalfooball.com - September 02, 2007

Jermaine Pennant is delighted with his early season form for Liverpool.

Pennant, who came of age in a Liverpool shirt with an excellent display in the Champions League final last season, said: "I wanted to continue the form I achieved towards the end of last season, and I feel I have done that.

"The boss is pleased with me, my form is good at the moment and my morale is high and I want to continue that.

"When you go to a new club like I did last season, you have to learn the way the boss wants you to play, you have to fit in with your new colleagues. Nobody just clicks straight away.

"(Cristiano) Ronaldo at Manchester United, Thierry Henry at Arsenal, they both took time. But I now feel comfortable and I know my role.

"I know my job in the team and I feel part of it now. I have confidence and I have decided to just go for it."

After victory over Derby, Pennant also said: "It is a stronger squad this season, there's two people for every position at least. We have four class strikers and any combination of those lads will get goals.

"Now it is a big squad and very strong. As for me, it is just confidence now and I am linking better with everyone.

"I am also getting my defensive work right, you have to do that even if I don't like it.

"My confidence is good, every game I play now I believe I can produce. My final delivery is good. I used to take a few too many touches, now I know exactly where the ball should be going, straight away.

"And playing against good opposition I know I have to keep producing week in week out.

"And I don't mind what wing I am on. Right or, like against Derby, on the left. I am confident I can do both jobs, and if that helps me get into the England squad, that's fine."

He added: "I know the boss said I should be in the England squad, and that is nice to hear, it is good praise from the gaffer. Maybe with a few more people behind me, I might get in.

"But I know I have to continue producing this form week in week out to be considered. Playing at Liverpool I know I have a chance.

"David Bentley has got in as a winger, and I'm pleased for him. We used to play together at Arsenal and I know he's a good player.

"When I see him next I shall be telling him he can't do what I can do, just to wind him up. But I'll be wishing him all the best, he deserves it."

fair play to him, him he's upped his game a lot and the 6.7 mil price tag seems a bargain if he continues to develop at this rate. long may it continue.

                          he's looking good.

I especially liked that move out on the left where he flicked the ball back into play, spun around and chased the ball down......with the Derby player screaming in for the challenge, i thought he would jump out of the tackle for sure...but he nipped in won the ball and played a hreat little cross in to Kuyt.

I wasn't his biggest fan (it the way he acts that i dont like), but he definately has talent to burn. More of what he has been producing would be great.

A goal here or there would'nt hurt either.

"looking through your posts since 2007 and what you have consistently written about my football team I have come to the conclusion that if you had 1 more brain cell you would be a plant .. your father was a hamster and your mother smells of elder berries, I fart in your general direction ..." I think some one twos in the box would be a great sight to behold!

confidence is the key for pennant, the talent is there, it always has been, but it seems like he's got his head straight since a rocky start. after reading that article i'm convinced of it, and it seems like he knows it's about confidence as well which is a good sign. i'm sure being in a team of great pro's with a manager like rafa helps. he just needs to believe he can be up there with ronaldo and the like. so many times i see him settle for clipping in an early ball when he's got the ability to beat most of the defenders put in front of him. he seems to be building on each performance since he's gotten a run in the team, hopefully he will just keep getting better and better

This is what he has improved most. He was ****e at that last season but now he is getting better and better tracking back.
Just believe and you never know what will happen.

According to Benitez it's important not simply to go out to win but to go out prepared to win, which means players have to put in the same level of work on a daily basis. Anything else is unacceptable.
