I think the champions league final was a turning point for him.perhaps its given him that extra bit of confidence and belief that he can match it with the really top shelf players.

Both as a player and individual he has matured since coming to the club. His attitude has been spot on and he is reaping the benefits. It seems we are developing a number of young players who all want to maximise their potential now as opposed to a few years ago when you got the feeling some players thought that just being at Liverpool constituted 'making it'.Originally posted by AFII View PostThis is what he has improved most. He's not in such a bl**dy rush anymore.
Last season everything he tried to do was attempted in highes possible pace which lead to him loosing the ball way to often.
Now he seems to have slowed the tempo down a bit and using his tecnique more to go past defenders (rather than trying to outpace every player in front of him).
And his left foot is getting better as well isn't it?--------------------------------------------------

I was always a fan of Pennant (as a player) and thought he was superb for Birmingham. He was their only positive the season they got relegated. He was always hugging the touchline and put in loads of good balls and crucially for me he was a bit of a goal threat himself.
Since he has been here he obviously had a slow start and looked a bit short on confidence. I think he loved being the big fish at Birmingham and the tables had been turned. However as last season progressed he really kept grafting and has improved no end. I still think he needs to be more of a goal threat himself, im sure this is something that he will be looking to improve this season.
I think its well worth congratulating him on his off the field behaviour so far, I havent heard any stories about him misbehaving yet and long may it continue. As for the small man syndrome that is getting tiresome. I do like some fight in a player though so I wouldnt like him to become completely docile.

I will hold my hands up his signing nonplused me. A good player, who we paid over the odds for but not a great player who would help us win the big prizes.
Last season he wasn't setting the place alight, yet he wasn't afraid to mouth off to the press about how good he was.
Yet towards the end of the season, he found form and consistency, which he has carried to this season. I have disagree with those think he is not a good crosser of the ball, even during a difficult first season he still ended up with the most assists. On Saturday, he showed he could also deliver with his weaker foot as well. He also appears more determined to get the byline to deliver crosses, as last year I felt he didn't have as much confidence and delivered a little too deep at times.

I dont agree with you too much but on this I always did. I couldnt believe how many were prepared to write him off after a couple of months.Originally posted by DJS View PostI was crying out for people to give him a chance when he first came and it's time for me to look smug
But seriously, he looks very good, very dangerous, can move with the ball at his feet quickly and is a constant threat.
Well in.
Since Christmas hes been our most consistent preformer and as regards his crossinf AF11 you need to watch the last word yesterday"With Ron Yeats in defence, we could play Arthur Askey in goal."
