How about top scorer last season, in all competitions for us? (including 8 goals in his last 10 European Cup games - which is only bettered by Kaka at this point I believe).

Oh, and before you start giving answers and suggesting better players, learn to spell. People would be more inclined to take your opinion more seriously.

To the original poster, I say to you what I say to the author of the "Alonso watch and learn" bollocks.

    Blow it out your arse.

No agenda for me. I think all our forwards have something to offer but I do think it's teling that Rafa's quote afterwards was "I just wanted to see Dirk Kuyt score . . . . . ."

I have to agree with shaggy some of the slagging that keyboard warrors on here give certain players is breathtaking.
He actually came out and said that he went to Rafa at the start of the season to see what the plan was.
Having said that the rest of the **** is just that.
Crouchy knows he will play a big part in the success of this club.

You would swear he is Robbie Fowler or Ian Rush asking questions like that.
He needs to work hard, take his chance when he gets it and know his place.

Rafa is a ruthless man as we seen with Pako and he would have no problem treating Crouch like Baros and Cisse.Rafa is playing the situation right as usual and Crouch when he gets his chance will have extra motivation.

Just on Torres,he is 22 and makes nothing balls look like something balls.
He barely celebrated Babels goal as he was sulking that he had'nt scored
Then when he scored he nearly creamed himself. He is mad to be the topscorer and he has plenty of confidence too.He is explosive.

            Rafa Benitez
Disagree with your main point, because it was never Crouch OR Torres. It's basically Torres +1. Crouch has every right to put in a claim as that 'one'. He scores everytime he gets a chance.

Only problem is, the others do too Great situation to be in

I am sure everyone remembers the 2 fantastic , acrobatic , stunning , overhead/bicycle kick type goals he scored last year. If Torres did that fans would be rightly praising him endlessly, whereas with Crouch they get quickly forgotten.

I would love to see a Crouch / Torres partnership for a few games, I think we would see more goals from both players.

imo Crouch will struggle to ge a lot of time on the pitch now with the quality of strikers we now have (remember babel can play upfront too). I have felt for some time that our movement upfront was poor (and this goes back way before Rafa came) and suddenly we have two new strikers in Torres and Voronin who show intelligent movement. This has given us subtle differences in the way we play. Last season we did not have the pace (nor intelligence in some quarters) to change the way we played. Generally playing Crouch means we play to feet and have a slower build up without the artillery to suddenly change the pace. We now have that and I think we are seeing the difference.

Its going to be a hard season for him to get a lot of time I think and he could well be let go next summer. Unfortunately for someone who I think has exceeded many peoples expectations during his time here, our next step up may be a step too far.

Yeah but we now have that due to Torres. No-one's saying it should Crouch OR Torres. Having Crouch alongside one of the main reasons we're now a greater attacking threat wouldn't suddenly detract from our way of playing - on the contrary I reckon.

Between Crouch and Torres, they present every type of problem in the book for defenders to deal with.

I am not sure about that. I think Torres with Kuyt or Voronin allows us to play with more pace and intensity. I like Crouch and would love him to show that he can be part of the team moving to another level. I don;t agree with people insinuatng that he has been petulant because I think he is entitled to ask about his future. I also disagreed with the comment about him taking ages to score his first whereas Torres and Voronin have hit the ground running. I think he possibly played better at the beginning when he wasn't scoring in fact.

A bit harsh - if I were Rafa i'd be well pleased that Crouch is asking for more game time as it shows desire. I'd be ashamed if he had solskjaer's attitude of being happy with a place on the bench.
