    Torres & Momo

Fernando Torres has admitted he is loving life at Liverpool and wants to win as many trophies as possible with the Reds.

The record signing, who scored his first goals in front of the Kop in the 6-0 mauling of Derby County, said he has been made to feel very welcome by everyone at Anfield.

"I am learning quickly and my teammates have played an important role, along with everyone at the club who have all gone out of their way to help me," commented Torres.

"I feel as if I have been at Liverpool for a long time. I intend to stay here for many years to come and I am really pleased with everything - my new teammates, the fans, the city, the stadium and, of course with my first goal at Anfield versus Chelsea.

"The experience is more fulfilling when things work out and if we can maintain our recent ****-hot form, I am sure that everything will continue to move along nicely."

Mohamed Sissoko was offered the chance to join Juventus in the summer, but rejected a move to Italy because Liverpool are 'a much bigger club'.

The powerful Malian faces tough competition to secure a spot in Rafa Benitez's midfield, such is the riches available to the Spaniard.

Juventus were eager to bring in Sissoko after bidding £10million but while the 22-year-old's representatives engaged in discussions with the Turin giants, Sissoko insists his heart always remained on Merseyside.

While accepting he will have to be at his best to win playing time, Sissoko is more than content at Anfield.

"I believed that Liverpool are a much bigger club than Juventus and decided not to speak to them any longer," he said.

"I'm a Liverpool player and I want to show to the people here, to everyone, that I'm already at a big club.

"I'm happy to be in Liverpool. I did want to stay despite the interest. That's why I signed a new contract.

"There are five midfielders for two positions. I'm happy in Liverpool and I want to play for the club as long as I can."

    Momo is boss
Just look at the face: it's vacant, with a hint of sadness. Like a drunk who's lost a bet.

        Bigger club

"I believed that Liverpool are a much bigger club than Juventus and decided not to speak to them any longer," he told the Daily Star Sunday.

Xabi Alonso today hailed Fernando Torres' explosive introduction to English football - and warned opposing defences his fellow countryman will only get better in the red shirt.

Torres took his season's tally to three at the weekend with two goals in Liverpool's 6-0 thrashing of Derby as Rafael Benitez's side climbed to the top of the table for the first time in five years.

Alonso, who also netted twice in the rout, is delighted Torres has already lived up to his record transfer fee billing and insists the way he has coped with the physical demands of the Premier League bodes well for the future.

"I think Fernando is doing really well. He has settled into the Premier League very quickly and that is encouraging because it can be difficult coming into a new league. He has great pace, physical strength and hopefully he will score more goals now.

"He has shown he is not afraid of the physical contact here, with defenders trying to put him off, and that is really important.

"You can see he is not afraid. Defenders will realise that he is not scared and it is like a motivation for him. He seems to like the challenge of trying to come out on top and he is doing really well for us."

Manager Rafael Benitez insists he isn't surprised by Torres' early form in England and is just happy that each of his front men are contributing to the club's solid start to the campaign.

"We knew he had power and movement which would suit the Premier League," said Rafa. "He's scoring goals, playing well and his understanding with the others is really good.

"We already knew he was really strong and he will be even stronger in a few months as well. He's working really hard. When you talk of strikers you can have someone who gets 20 goals a season but is just waiting for chances. If you have someone who gets 15 but creates 10 or 15 for the others, it's better.

"I always prefer to have four, five or even nine different players scoring the goals rather than just one or two.

"It's easier for defenders if they know they just have to control a couple of players who are going to score.

"Having so many players is a problem but one I prefer to have rather than having to play with the same strikers all the time, because I have confidence in the others."

Can anyone see this situation lasting? Gerrard is an automatic pick when fit and then there's Alonso, Mascherano, Sissoko and Lucas. Impossible situation in the long run, unless we see Gerrard moved from there.

It's a good question alright. I reckon something (or someone) will have to give next summer.

Yep, we'll have to sell one next summer.

But for now, let's just enjoy our embarrassment of riches

We won't get a penny if it's Macherano who leaves (and I for one hopes it isn't) but will need to fork out a substantial fee if we sign him permanently.

Out of the five we've got, it's more likely to be Momo who moves on IMO. The new contract he signed in the summer will certainly help us negotiate a substantial fee if he's in demand.

Probably not as much as we could have got this summer because the interested clubs will see that we need to sell.

The interesting bit is that Sissoko said that it was his decision not to move to Juve, so we must have agreed a fee with them but he also said, any longer, so he wasn't totally uninterested in a move to them because he had talked with them a few times.

Sounds like an economical decision if you ask me because he didn't turn them down straight away.
Just believe and you never know what will happen.

According to Benitez it's important not simply to go out to win but to go out prepared to win, which means players have to put in the same level of work on a daily basis. Anything else is unacceptable.

One will go next summer and I can only see it being Momo or Mashcer, but I'm leaning towards Momo as Lucas can probably fill his gap but Mascher and Xabi are a bit different.

I can;t see it lasting at all.
All the players mentioned are of a very high calibre and deserve regular football.
Bill shankly to Tommy Smith after he'd turned up for training with a bandaged knee:
'Take that poof bandage off, and what do you mean YOUR knee, it's LIVERPOOL'S knee !'

"Sorry, boss, I should have kept my legs together," said Lawrence. "No, Tommy, your mother should have kept her legs together!," replied Shankly.
