    Anyone remember this date?

Doesnt really stick out as a landmark occasion, does it? I wouldnt have remembered it just by date either...

But on that day, we went to Boro sitting pretty at the top of the league after a great start. And we lost 1-0. The first of ELEVEN league games without a win.

Not saying it's gonna happen again, but if you feel the need to keep the feet on the ground and not get too carried away, this is something to remember.

One game at a time, it's the only way we can play it. I'm sure Rafa will keep people's heads out of the clouds.

"I am really pleased with my team and we are playing well, scoring goals and keeping clean sheets," enthused Benitez.

"It's good for our supporters to see us top of the league but we now have to keep it going and keep working hard in every game we play. It's too early to talk about being top of the league.

15 years of false dawns is what's keeping my feet on the ground.

Nothing is accomplished until we win #19, but at the moment, things are looking very good.

        Spot on from El Gaffer.

We're all excited, but we've only played about 11% of the league campaign.

Long way to go yet, we must just get our heads down and take each game in its own right, instead of thinking ahead.

            Indeed buddy.

1997 and 2002 in particular are the seasons which stick in the memory, when we topped the table for the large part and looked good to win the league and in the end came up short.

Having said that, we've started this season in a similar way to Man U last season, basically tearing up the league, so it is very encouraging.

I thought the same thing yesterday. If I remember correctly, Arsenal had lost to Everton a week or two before, and we were the only undefeated side left in the league.

And to top it all off, we went out of the group stages in the Champions League as we couldn't beat ****ing Basle! That was the beginning of the end for GH...

Of course, Torres, Voronin and Babel are looking just a little better than Diouf, Diao and Cheyrou. But I won't talk seriously of us winning the title unless we're in a similar position come springtime.

Being 32 now it pains me to say that the Glory days, a lot of which I remember in great detail, are way behind...well, in terms of the league anyway, that said I have not been so optimistic since 1990. This is our year, I can feel it!!!!!

Those days could come back. We have the start of a team that could do it with a tweek every summer we could be back again.

'Of course I didn't take my wife to see Rochdale as an anniversary present.
                          It was her birthday.
Would I have got married during the football season ?
                          Anyway, it was Rochdale reserves.'
