If I had to pick one in for my team then I'd go with Carra - every time.

I still think Agger occasionally gets carried away and takes chances. He'll be some player when he hits his peak though.

on the flip side, carra has played every position in the back 4 to very high standard, organises the entire defensive unit and puts his body on the line to rectify others mistakes

Carra is infinately better than Agger.But Agger has a great teacher and someday the pupil will better the teacher just as Carra did with Sami.

carra is a fabulous pro with a great attitude and 100% comittmnent. he contributes beyond his individual ability in terms of organisation and leadership.

agger is technically and athletically far superior - there is simply no contest.

there are better players than jamie carragher in this world although not that many. carra is about as good as he can be - hes not a youngster and he plays at the limit of his physical capabilities. If agger can learn to march carraghers comittment and passion and have the same organisational abilities then he could very easily be the best central defender in the world in a few years.

Think Agger is the better footballer, better oasser of the ball and a lot more composed. But Carra is a stronger and more authorative defender. Agger will learn so much from playing with Carra, much like Carra learned a lot from playing Hyypia.
Either way you look at it, we have a perfect combo in Defence, much like Lawro and Hansen from back in the day.

They are an excellent partnership and that is what counts. Carra is the better defensive defender and Agger the better attacking defender.

Their styles are different and compliment each other perfectly.

Carra's the rugged, last ditch, would throw himself into a burning pit to stop a goal. Agger's stylish, classy, great on the ball and quite slick in the way he goes about things. Composed, intelligent, good positioning and reading of the game.

Lovely combination to have, just wish Carra was 5 years younger!

Carra has the commitment and ability that we all love to see.

Daniel, if he develops properly can be like Jockey Hansen + some. He is already a class player and has (imho) the ability to be the best in the world.

But right now JC is better, not just because of commitment etc. but because of his experience and "game smarts"

As a plus I can't think of a better pair of CBs for Daniel to learn defending from than Jamie and Sami

Also I think it would be interesting to analyse which of the two has made the most mistakes in the last 18 months or so coz I bet it isn't Agger, I love Carra to bits and the do compliment each other perfectly but Agger offers so much more
