    GREAT Stats Breakdown....

...but the article was written by a dumb ****.

    http://www.telegraph.co.uk/sport/mai.../sfnliv103.xml

Ignore the article unless you want to have a laugh reading the comments afterwards which are just priceless. Especially the one halfway down by Richard Kirkwood. ****in classic for a kid.

Anyways, as I stated the stats graphic they have is boss.
Friendship is like peeing on yourself: everyone can see it, but only you get the warm feeling that it brings.

    The accurate passes are astounding.

Pennant got about 55%, Torres in the late 60s, the restof the team in the high 80s. Xabi got 90%.
    Oh I don't know.

Well, I said that Pennant did miss a few of his final passes. He made many great moves but he missed the final ball to many times. 55% isn't good enough.

You can't just look at his fancy flicks because they are not worth that much when his end product isn't good enough.

He is getting better and that is good.
Just believe and you never know what will happen.

According to Benitez it's important not simply to go out to win but to go out prepared to win, which means players have to put in the same level of work on a daily basis. Anything else is unacceptable.

Yea h i read this article today and just couldn't believe the negative spin the author put on it. I'm sure if it were the mancs or arse he wouldn't be so negative.

On the stats, they are fantastic and make for pleasant reading, Alonso's pass accuracy in particular.

Torres and Pennant is the only ones below 75% and that is impressive even that we played against a bad team.

Our defence only made 6 tackles all game. Shows how poor they where.

Must be some kind of record.

What a miserable so and so Mr Miller must be! Free flowing football and plenty of goals. Derby being out of their depth in the Premier league is hardly Liverpool's fault. For the last few years Liverpool have been accused of not having a cutting edge, of falling short in the finishing department (in comparion to United, Arsenal and Chelsea) and of coming up short when it came to getting results against the 'smaller' sides. All of this has been addressed and the improvement is there for all to see. Yes Liverpool have spent money. Show me a successful side in world football TODAY that hasn't. We cherished the teams, successes and silverware of the 70's and 80's. Our proud history is everything to a Liverpool fan, and few clubs in world football have such an illustrious one. As opposition fans quite right say though, history is one thing but it's what you achieve today that counts. A 6-0 win on Saturday, a clean sheet, 10 goals in a week, qualification to the champions league at a canter, 3 wins and a (dodgy) draw so far this season in the league, top of the league and a game in hand. It's early days but that reads pretty well to me. Cheer up David, things really aren't that bad!

I would like to know what you reported when Spurs beat Derby a few weeks ago?

I think David Miller should analyse why United didn't beat Sunderland 6-0, or send him to Arsenal vs Derby in a couple of weeks.

I've never read such a miserable analysis of a 6-0 win.

But these kind of stats can be very misleading. Sometime a player might go for an obvious 1-2 but the receiving player isn't aware which makes the other guys stats show a missed pass. Or a player may not move forward towards the ball and it gets intercepted - again this would reflect negatively on the other guys stats. There's an opta page on skysports showing pass quantity/accuracy and we're behind Utd........but not in the league!
As I said, stats are usually very misleading - otherwise we should have kept the premierships top crosser - el hadji diouf!

The rest of our players had much higher % so it can't be down to just that even that Pennant isn't the most clever player out there which means that it will be more missunderstandings. Diouf has always been a great crosser, it's the rest of his game that isn't good enough.

United plays a slower passing game so they will get more passes right than us.

Hmmm, I wonder if it's counting Pennant's crosses. If a Liverpool player isn't on the end, does that count as a missed pass?

I was there, and didn't notice him being particularly wasteful.

Well, he was our worst passer according to the stats and the rest of the team wasn't even close.

I can accept that he miss a few passes as long as he do that on the attacking half.

thinking the same myself. if he puts ten balls into the box and only one find our player that means 10% which is very misleading...
"Sky and Setanta have the right to choose their games and it will be the same for everyone. So Mr Ferguson will not be complaining about fixtures and a campaign against United.

"Or there is another option. That Mr Ferguson organises the fixtures in his office and sends it to us and everyone will know and cannot complain. That is simple."

I think you can discount the pennant pass rate. A lot of those balls will be final balls into the box where it's 50-50 either us or a defender will get them. Really his effectiveness should be measured in terms of getting crosses in and getting to the byline.

The whole pass rate completion thing is a bit of a red herring if you ask me. It depends on what position you're playing in. Even Reina has a pass completion rate for example.

For defenders I'd be more interested in offsides, tackles won, balls cleared etc.
