After the start we have made to the season, I don't think it is appropriate to talk about positions that need to be strengthened.

In out current form, signing new players is the furthest thing from my mind.

Suggesting we sign a new left-back is an insult to Alvaro Arbeloa. And comtemplating a new winger in a slap in the face of Jermaine Pennant.
It's not good because it's rude. It's good because it looks like it's good because it's rude.

      we dont need a LB.

Arbeloa has been great, Insua looks a fantastic prospect, and Aurelio can also play there.

I would plump all our funds into getting Micah Richards for the RB/CB slot, or make another move for Alves. Finnan is getting on a bit, and while still a good player, we need to look for a replacement.

If we sell Crouch, i would use all we make to bid for Huntelaar.

Quaresma is the other option, although he looks a tad expensive at the moment.

But for the first time since i have been a liverpool fan, we have quality in every possition.

He may be that but he doesn't play like an out and out winger. If you look at our games then the left and right sided midfielder cuts inside and the right or left sided defender attacks down the wing. Arbeloa has been excellent doing that this season and Finnan do that very often.
Just believe and you never know what will happen.

According to Benitez it's important not simply to go out to win but to go out prepared to win, which means players have to put in the same level of work on a daily basis. Anything else is unacceptable.

I doubt that Bayern will sell Lahm. We may be able to price away Rafinha from Schalke. He is the same type of player as Alves and Cicinho.

I buy Rafinha and Vanden Borre as my right backs in FM07 And Marcelo as my Left back.
I think it's a foul, and if the ref gives it. He got to give a penalty. I know it's outside the box, but you see them given that close to the area. So if the ref gives it he's got to give the penalty as it so close to the area. But I think it's a penalty. Robbie Savage 8/11/06

If we lean on them enough, they'll sell...look at Hargreaves.

Crucial part is actually making Lahm WANT the move badly enough.

I think for next season we may see a left sided midfielder coming in because I think Riise is on the way out, and also Crouch unfortunately, with Babel becoming one of our pool of strikers.

                              What we should definitely do:

                              1. Seal a permanent deal for Mascherano even if it means offloading Sissoko.

                              2. Get a long term replacement for Hyypia.

What we should do if certain players in the squad don't deliver:

                              3. A new left winger to replace a never fit Kewell.

                              4. A new left back if Aurelio struggles with his injury and/or Riise performs badly.

Up front we have 4 different strikers - each with differing qualities.

Midfield (central) we have arguably the strongest quartet anywhere.
Midfield (wide) we now have quality with Babel, Benayoun (I'm being converted from a non-believer), Pennant (see previous statement) and Kewell if he gets anywhere near his best form.

Defensively our 'unit' is very tight and well marshalled by Carra. Sami & Agger complete the centre halves. Finnan & Arbeloa are both quality right backs and then there's Riise and Aurelio for left back......

In goal there's Pepe - who we wouldn't swap for ANYBODY. If he get's injured we're struggling people..........It doesn't bear thinking about.

So when the next xfer window comes around - where should we strengthen? Personally I'd like a new back-up keeper. One that's used to the british game and the rough and tumble that goes with it.
Also - do we need to spend big in a particular area or are we fairly well covered?

I'm pretty sure I know what the response is gonna be - but I'm interested if there are any alternative thoughts on the matter.
                                Where do we strengthen next?.
We strengthen our resolve. Thats the most important thing we need to strengthen. Until that is as strong as can be, we won;t be winning the league, hopefully it is strong enough now.
As for signing players next window. I wouldn't get over committed looking for players just yet, maybe a centre half and a couple of wingers i'd keep an eye out for, but, we may get pleasantly surprised by some of our own youngsters.
Bill shankly to Tommy Smith after he'd turned up for training with a bandaged knee:
'Take that poof bandage off, and what do you mean YOUR knee, it's LIVERPOOL'S knee !'

"Sorry, boss, I should have kept my legs together," said Lawrence. "No, Tommy, your mother should have kept her legs together!," replied Shankly.
