Carra back for Pompey and we have signed another youngster

    We want it so badly

Jamie Carragher has promised Liverpool fans to "give it everything" to end their 17-year title wait.

Carragher knows how desperate supporters are to see the Reds crowned champions and he is stopped by fans every time he steps outside his front door.

The Reds are top for the first time under Rafael Benitez and Carragher claims everyone in the dressing room is fired up to win the Premier League this season.

"Obviously it's been a long time since we won the league and when I talk to fans in the street, that's the one that they'd dearly love to see at Anfield in May," said the defender.

"I know where they are coming from and I'd love to be a league winner, so we're going to give it everything this year to win our first Premier League title.

"The board have backed the manager off the pitch with his signings and now it's down to us to back him on it."

Carragher, who confirmed he will be back from his broken rib for Liverpool's next game at Portsmouth on September 15, dreams of seeing Steven Gerrard hold the Premier League aloft at Anfield before they move to their new stadium in 2010.

"We've got the new stadium to move into in Stanley Park in a couple of years' time and that's going to be a real buzz to be part of," he said.

"It would be nice to be able to bring the title back here to Anfield at least once more before we leave.

"It's the place where we brought the first one to and it would be fitting if Stevie held it aloft at Anfield before we go."

Carragher, though, is not obsessed by becoming Premier League champions and claims winning any trophy is a great feeling.

"I don't know about the league being our priority, but we'd love to win it this season," he said.

"But I'd love to win the FA Cup, the Carling Cup and the European Cup as well.

"I don't think you can weigh up trophies like that - at least not here.

"We've won them all in my time here - except the league - and that moment when you lift it above your head feels the same whatever the trophy is."

Benitez has beaten Real Madrid to sign one of Europe's top prospects. The former Real Youth and B team coach has landed central defender Aridine Hernandez, 18.

Just believe and you never know what will happen.

According to Benitez it's important not simply to go out to win but to go out prepared to win, which means players have to put in the same level of work on a daily basis. Anything else is unacceptable.

I'd really rather stop reading these kind of articles. What, were they not giving it their all in previous seasons then?

No more title talk lads, just do the business on the park and then come Easter, if we're in with a shout, we'll think about it then.

Who did we sign Hernandez from? I thought we got him from Real but clearly not.

the big difference this season is we've started well and the new signings have slotted in almost instantly.
imho a big part of being league challengers is belief it sometimes used to piss me off that the title was conceed before the league even began.
we have class striker, class wingers, world class central midfielders, pace in abundance and rafa seems to have released the shackles,

about time if you ask me

sounds too early for me but I doubt carra would play if he didn't think he was ready.

                Oh, cheers.

Feel a bit sorry for Sami potentially missing out though, he hasn't put a foot wrong.

not true jamo, he almost gave away a goal from nothing on Saturday, and his distribution was shocking

apart from that, his defense was decent.

                    Still too early.

Remember the 2002-2003 season? Started well, top in November. Then 11 games without a win and a rubbish season.

wasn't convinced, we flattered to deceive, too many average players overachieving who eventually got found out. not hindsight I actually said this before the awful run started with us being GUTLESS at m'bro away.
if you can't attack midtable mediocrity (home or away) when you are seven points clear at the top when CAN you.

That is the difference between Houllier and Rafa. GH had no plan B, Rafa has a plan B, C, D and probably E if he needs it.
