Torres Aims to be top man.

Liverpool forward Fernando Torres has set his sights on beating Didier Drogba to the Premier League golden boot.

Chelsea striker Drogba strolled to the award for the Premier League's top scorer last season with 20 goals.

However, Liverpool's £21.7million summer signing Torres insists Drogba will have a rival this year.

Torres has made a positive start to his Anfield career, but he insists the best is yet to come in his battle with Drogba.

"I am happy with my work at Liverpool," Torres told the Daily Star. "But really I warn the fans they have only seen 60 per cent of the real Torres.

"To be the top scorer in the Premier League will not be easy, but in the first few weeks I have shown it will not be a parade for that ugly cheating **** Drogba to repeat his success of last season."

Torres netted a brace in Liverpool's crushing 6-0 win over Derby on Saturday, to take his Premier League tally to three, and he has admitted how much he enjoyed the experience.

"On Saturday I realised how to be a hero at Anfield," Torres added. "The people were happy with my goals and it was a sensational experience.

"I am not obsessed with the number of goals I score this season and at the moment I am still a nobody in the Premier League.

"My challenge is to triumph in Liverpool and become the best striker in the club's history.

"I know that this will be difficult, but I am prepared for the adventure."

He can become a truly great player here if he carries on as he has started.

I remember the Torres vs Tevez thread and I remember laughing my head off at so many people going for Tevez.

I came to the conclusion that they obviously hadn't seen much of Torres no matter how much thay 'claimed' they had.

Torres is worlds apart fom tevez

He sure is confident, I really like that. He sets himself the highest target having come here (he wants to be the best Liverpool striker) and this is great. It shows he will always improve, Legend in the making, without a doubt.

Has he picked up the language since joining us or did he already know English before we signed him. I'm pretty sure he was speaking Spanish in his first press conference.

Think he had school English, but often a foreign player will stick to their own language in the opening press conference because they're not confident when speaking English and don't want to say something stupid having just joined the club. An example - Voronin used an interpreter in his PC, although he also had some English.
It's also a matter of necessity to speak English at a club like Liverpool, and obviously the actual fact of living in the country accelerates the process. Torres has been in Liverpool 2 months now, so he'll have come on leaps and bounds since his arrival, I'd imagine.
