A half fit player should be screaming to play for his country. Gerrard is no different, fcuk Mc Clown and the F.A but playing for your country, there is no greater honour.

Was reading the Times on line I think and they were of the opinion that it's unlikely that Gerrard would play unless he's fit, ie England wouldn't go down the route of giving him pain-killing injections to play like we did for the Chelsea game. That's reassuring at least.
I think all the responsibility here is on SG's shoulders. If he is not fit to play it is incumbent on him to say so. We might all bash McClaren here, but I am pretty sure the guy wouldn't force Stevie to play if he isn't fit.White liquid in a bottle = Milk

After the problems the FA had with the whole Michael Owen/Newcastle compensation thing they are unlikely to take any risksOriginally posted by Dhavlos View PostWas reading the Times on line I think and they were of the opinion that it's unlikely that Gerrard would play unless he's fit, ie England wouldn't go down the route of giving him pain-killing injections to play like we did for the Chelsea game. I would think winning the premiership in front of the Kop would trump it to be fair.Originally posted by kev776 View PostA half fit player should be screaming to play for his country. Gerrard is no different, fcuk Mc Clown and the F.A but playing for your country, there is no greater honour.

Honours are usually bestowed upon people - winning Cups, trophies etc have to be earned....if you know what I mean.Originally posted by Maestro View PostOk, what about winning the World Cup for your country?
Surely that is a higher honour than just playing for your country?
I don't think you can compare honours such as playing for your country and winning things. As a player, being selected to play for you country is about as high an honour as you can get, IMO.
Winning the Prem in front of the Kop wouldn't really be an 'honour' - IMO. It would be a ****ing orgasmic achievement.
Semantics, really, I suppose. Thanks very much for being ‘This Mornings’ Farmer’

Players aren't "honoured with" a Premiership title. It has to be earned and won.
While an England call-up obviously still has to be earned, the honour is bestowed upon a player by someone else - much like an MBE or a knighthood. I think the two things (winning things and being honoured) are different. Thanks very much for being ‘This Mornings’ Farmer’

Well, there's no disagreeing to be had
It IS different, as I pointed out. The sort of honours Kev was talking about, I assume, is an honour in its truest sense - something that is bestowed upon somebody by someone else - like an England cap, an MBE or a Knighthood.
Winning the Premiership in front of the Kop, or a World Cup, or whatever, isn't an honour in its true sense.
I'd much, much rather win the league for the Reds in front of the Kop than play for my country though.
