    Fixture list

At the start of the season when the fixtures came out I think people were VERY happy with the outcome. On paper we had a nice opening quarter and the way the toughest games are really spread out over the course of the season is a massive advantage.

    Next 4 games:

    Pompey away
    B'ham home
    Wigan away
    Spurs home

With the mancs playing Chelsea soon, if we win those 4 (which on paper we really should) we could be holding onto a tidy lead at the next international break stage.

Everything seems to be going in our favour this season with our new signings settling so quickly, fixtures etc and everything points at a LFC title win

When are the Mancs playing the Chavs? We have some tricky games just before Christmas with Arsenal and the Scum to come to the fortress.

      2 games time I think.

I think it will take a good slice of good fortune for those 2 to take anything from Anfield this season. Interested to see how we fare in the away games against the big other 3 though.

I think I'm right in saying we didn't even score at any of their grounds last year. It will be a nice indicator of how far we've come and how much better the belief is in the squad. Last year I sensed that they didn't think they had a right to take any points at these grounds.

We were somewhere around Barstow on the edge of the desert when the drugs began to take hold.

            Man UTD.

And Blackburn go to Stamford bridge. They could easily stifle Chelsea there.

Blackburn should give them a right old good kicking.

The Scum love it there. Last season, they were hand wrapped the title there

In saying that though, Fratton Park is no easy game but with Torres and the new attacking ability of the squad in general, It shouldn't be too much of a problem.

Our fixture list seems easy right now but it wont be come March.

                  08 Mar, 2008 Newcastle United H
                  15 Mar, 2008 Reading H
                  22 Mar, 2008 Manchester United A
                  29 Mar, 2008 Everton H
                  05 Apr, 2008 Arsenal A
                  12 Apr, 2008 Blackburn Rovers H

This will be a very tough run in if you include the cup matches and CL matches that will be played during this period. There will probably be another international break in Match which wouldnt be helpful either.

Hopefully by then we'll still be at the top of the table and don't underestimate what effect that will have. Firstly it will give us belief and strength to hold on and secondly no one likes playing the league leaders.

This season, those 4 home matches should be 10 out of 12 pts and I'd expect us to grab a few pts in the aways too. When you break it up, it doesn't look too bad and this is actually our hardest bunch of fixtures so that just reinforces my first post

Pompey away at 12:45 after an international break with international players probably only training on Friday and Masher ruled out due to playing on the other side of the world and lets face it Stevie will come back worse then he left after playing 2 games and will need to be 'rested'. And with pompey having most of their team to train and get ready for this game all week its going to be a tough ask for us to get 3 points from that game.

I'm not as worried as you, we've already prepared to play against Pompey once already this season. So Rafa is only likely to be tweaking the tactics based on that game.

Xabi and Momo are more than capable replacements for Sir Stevie and El Jefecito.

Carra will be back. Pennant will be fresh and Crouch will only have played one match at most.

AND Harry has been complaining that he's only got 7 players to work with in training this week, so I don't think they are in that much better of a position.

We have no excuse not to win.
