The fact that she is not Spanish might be a bit of a problem.

the channels decided to jib the wigan match for now, it's just playing a looping video and advertising the launch date for the channel, nothing earth shattering there then

                  the new presenter is hot.

Anyone know when they repeat the games are we going to full stadium sounds, i mean sky make sure you don't hear any of the rude signing, but my cosuin who supports the scum said their matches are played with proper stadium sounds on their **** channel.

I am hoping to some of the crowd chats and get a better sample of the atmosphere.

We've got the best club now we want the best TV channel

Sep 18 2007 Tony Barrett Liverpool Echo

WITH just days to go until the launch of Liverpool Football Club’s new TV channel, Tony Barrett goes behind the scenes.

THERE aren’t many secrets that are as closely guarded as the make-up of Liverpool FC’s new TV studios at the Matchworks in Speke.

The first anyone outside a close knit group of staff and VIP guests will see of them is when the new station is launched on Setanta on September 20.

The secrecy surrounding the new channel is designed to create a fever of excitement in the build up to launch day, but it does come at a price – as ex-Reds star John Barnes has already found out to his cos.

Barnes is to present his own chat show on the station but when he turned up to record the first ever instalment of The John Barnes Show earlier this week he couldn’t find the studio and had to be guided in by an ECHO photographer.

His guests – Jamie Carragher, Ian St John and writer and poet Dave Kirby – had to resort to taking instructions of how to get there over the phone (hands free, of course) as they made their way by car.

“It wasn’t the easiest to find first time around but I’m sure I’ll be fine next time,” says Barnes.

“To be honest, it’s really exciting to be involved in something from the start and seeing how it takes shape and changes as we move on.

“I’m doing a chat show and there will be three guests each time – a current player, an ex-player and a fan.

“There will be 20 shows broadcast each year and each one will be an hour long. It will be just chat though, no video, so that gives me the chance to really explore issues in some depth.”

With launch day fast approaching the studios are a hive of activity as producers, camera operatives, content experts and presenters put the finishing touches to the brand new shows which will greet viewers who tune in next Thursday.

Senior presenter is Claire Rourke, only recently arrived in Liverpool having been “signed” from Real Madrid TV in Spain.

And like so many players who make the move to Liverpool, she says it was the only club that could have tempted her away from the Spanish capital.

“I’m so excited about this opportunity,” says Claire. “It’s the only job I would have left Madrid for.

“Being a Liverpool fan, this was just the perfect job for me and I couldn't turn it down when the chance came up.

“As well as being one of the presenters on LFC TV I’ll also be producing a number of the shows.

“It’s a role I really enjoyed in Madrid and with this being a new channel the opportunities will be there to create the kinds of programmes the fans are going to love watching.”

With there being such a Spanish flavour to life at modern day Anfield, Claire has already been able to put the language skills she picked up in Madrid to good use.

She says: “After Fernando Torres scored his first goal for us against Shanghai, we knew we had to interview him and I spoke to him in Spanish after the match.

“And meeting up with the manager was an experience I’ll never forget because he spoke to me only in Spanish.”

The voice of fellow presenter Peter McDowall will be familiar to many sports fans on Merseyside – even if his face isn’t.

Peter was the host of Radio City’s popular Saturday afternoon Footballers Football Show until Liverpool came calling and offered him his big break in TV.

“When Liverpool comes calling you just don’t say no,” say Peter.

“Working in television is something I’ve always had in my mind as something I’d like to do and a challenge like this doesn’t come along every day.

“I feel an overwhelming sense of pride at being involved right from the start at LFC TV because it is such an exciting time for everyone involved.

“If the fans could get the chance to look around the studios and see the plans that are in place for the channel then they would be as blown away as I was when I first came here.

“The whole set-up just oozes class and the people working here are so schooled in the club and know what the fans want to see and hear. That’s why this is going to be a big success.”

In two days time the waiting will be over and Reds fans will finally get to see the new station for themselves and the state-of-the-art 80 square metre studio will be revealed in all its glory.

General manager Stephen Michael is confident the station will be a success and is looking forward to the moment when it finally goes live.

“I’m very confident the channel will look very good indeed,” he says. “It will be a channel the fans want to watch and will add tremendously to their experience of this club.

“Supporters will be able to turn on and enjoy matches, hear the latest news, see interviews with the playing and management staff or find out about the new stadium in a way they couldn’t easily do before.”

Head of content Paul Rogers says he only has one aim – to help make the channel the best in the business.

He says: “We’ve got the best football club and the best fans in the world, now we want the best club TV channel too.”
