Anderson joy as Saints cement top spot
    9:15am today
St Helens coach Daniel Anderson watched his side claim top spot in the engage Super League with a 36-16 victory over Warrington and then revealed his blossoming relationship with Liverpool boss Rafael Benitez.

Benitez took a break from the stresses and strains of Premier League management to witness Saints claiming the League Leaders' Shield for the third successive year.

Anderson said: "We're just enjoying winning and playing well and we've started to find our touch in the last couple of weeks. We've finished top and we've deserved to finish top."
Actually, shouldn't be that surprised that Rafa is a fan, he always like the strategy war games, positioning etc, and in Rugby, positioning and strategy is very important.
Bill shankly to Tommy Smith after he'd turned up for training with a bandaged knee:
'Take that poof bandage off, and what do you mean YOUR knee, it's LIVERPOOL'S knee !'

"Sorry, boss, I should have kept my legs together," said Lawrence. "No, Tommy, your mother should have kept her legs together!," replied Shankly.

It's probably Rafa giving a hint that we will sign someone with the name Helens Warrington.
Just believe and you never know what will happen.

According to Benitez it's important not simply to go out to win but to go out prepared to win, which means players have to put in the same level of work on a daily basis. Anything else is unacceptable.

"Sky and Setanta have the right to choose their games and it will be the same for everyone. So Mr Ferguson will not be complaining about fixtures and a campaign against United.

"Or there is another option. That Mr Ferguson organises the fixtures in his office and sends it to us and everyone will know and cannot complain. That is simple."

I think also, a reason why I posted this is because, just like Rafa's wife, it is good to see Rafa getting involved in the community more.
This is great stuff to read as far as I am concerned.

I also think it is always a good idea for coaches to look at other sports in terms of training techniques. A lot of the ideas Big Sam has bought in which have extended the careers of a number of players came from American Football and Rugby League. If I remember correctly a number of his coaching staff started out in Rugby.

That would certainly explain his preferred style of play.
              .
Suppose you have a physicist and a sociologist standing at the side of a field, observing a set of events unfolding on the field. The physicist does [describes] it using the terminology of mass and velocity and frequency of radiation and the rest. And the sociologist does it by describing it as a rugby match.

May the Lord bless this post.

Definetly not Rugby. Just like trying to compare Everton to Liverpool.

                          Bit more on it...

The Anfield chief was a special guest at Knowsley Road and cannot fail to have been impressed as Anderson’s men outscore Warrington by seven tries to two.

Finishing top guarantees Saints an all-important home play-off semi-final against the side who finish second in the table.

Benitez’s presence confirmed Anderson’s desire to forge links with football clubs.
“It’s good to see anyone who feels they can enjoy a night out away from their own sport,” said Anderson.

“I certainly enjoy going to football matches and I’ve stood on the Kop at Anfield.

“I enjoyed it that as much as anyone, and I’ve met Rafa a couple of times and been to Melwood.
“I looked at their set-up and had lunch with him and saw Liverpool operate.” Anderson has won every trophy in sight since succeeding Ian Millward at Knowsley Road and is constantly seeking ideas and practices from other successful clubs in football and beyond.

“As part of my professional development I’ve been to Bolton and went to Manchester United a few weeks ago,” he explained.

“I’m going to Liverpool’s academy next week. It’s about taking little bits from different people and modifying them into your own game.”
Thanks very much for being ‘This Mornings’ Farmer’

Don't the reserves play in Warrington?

Rugby is a painful game to play - but it has elements of teamplay that could/must be taught in footy. Its a brilliant game (if its not your body that will pay the price) If you can't do it, or don't understand it, don't diss it out of hand.
