    Best ever XI

Really bored now, footy postponed for ****ty internationals, and the transfer window is shut. Running out of things to talk about so how about a best ever Liverpool XI thread?

post your best XI and reasons for them being in there.

Its harder than you think, some unbelievable players have to be left out.

    anyway, heres mine :-

Goalkeeper - Ray Clemence - Mr Dependible, only elisha scott comes close, but I never saw him play!

Right Back - Phil Neal - Cant argue with his trophy haul, dependibility and what a penalty taker!

Centre backs - Carragher/Hansen - Hansen picks himself, best defender ive ever seen. Carra JUST beats off yeats + lawrenson for my vote

Left Back - Nicol - Chico was so good you could play him anywhere (and we did), but i felt he was best at LB. was hard to pick him over gerry byrne mind.

Right wing - Ian Callaghan - just couldnt leave him out the side. his appearance record will never be beaten IMO.

Centre Mid - Gerrard/Souness - Got to pick the best 2 centre mids ive seen in a red shirt.

Left Wing - John Barnes - this was hard, what with Billy Liddel and stevey Heighway. But barnes between 1987-90 was unplayable.

Centre Forwards - Dalglish/Rush - hardest position for me to pick TBH. Hard leaving out the likes of hunt/st.john/keegan/toshack/beardley etc.

    Now your turn.....

Hmmm, no mention of Tommy Lawrence, Larry Lloyd, Tommy Smith, Emlyn Hughes, Rob Jones, and that's just at the back.

I'll need more than a day to write everyone down and start to eliminate them one-by-one for whatever reason, I'll be back later.

Trust me, all players you mentioned went through my thought process, and many more you havent mentioned either.
As I said, its bleeding hard picking one, not so much for the ones you put in, but the ones you leave out. Once youve picked one youre there to be shot at, so put your money where your mouth is......

That he was/is. so was owen before injuries took hold. I think even robbie would admit that as good as he is/was, hes not as good as dalglish or rush

p.s. - pick a team yourself ya big **** house instead of pullin mine to bits

Well, only 23 so from The late 80's/early 90's on i'd go with:

Brucie: Eccentricity of the highest oreder. Every team needs one.Good keeper too .

Rob Jones: the best defender giggs ever faced . Giggsyh:

                  Hansen : Nuff said

Carra: one of the best around at the moment.

JAR : Best attacking full around for me

                  Digger: Great skill

                  Gerrard: Best allround midfielder.EVER.

Alonso. Best passer i've come across.

                  Macca: Brilliant in his day

                  Fowler : Ian Rush's protege

                  Rush:Fowlers teacher

I have never heard of Scott and Stubbins.

Although the name "Liddell" sounds very familiar...a player in the 50's/60's?
"In fact I’m going to make a promise which will be welcomed by many. If there’s no finance secured by the opening day of the season, I’m going to hang up my keyboard and close KOPTALK down."
