Wenger has won a couple of french leagues, 3 premier leagues (and consistently challenged), including doing the double on a couple of occasions and the unbeaten season, as well as winning the FA cup a few times and revolutionising the premier league in terms of fitness/diet etc.

He's acheived more than Rafa, great manager though he is, and should be ahead IMO.

Plus, didnt it say the article was from the London Times!

Wenger has won the league in two countries. Rafa in one. Wenger has not been relegated. Rafa has. Wenger has put together and managed a side that went unbeaten throughout a whole season. A remarkable feat. Yes Rafa has won European trophies and Wenger hasn't but on their career record as it stands Wenger has been more successful winning 18 club trophies as a manager compared to Rafa's 7. Thus I can see why Wenger makes a higher place than Rafa.

Wenger should be higher than Rafa but 23 places is a bit silly. Neither warrant the top 30 of all time anyway.

              1. Bob Paisley
              2. Brian Clough
              3. Slur Alex
              4. Bill Shankly
              5. Sir Matt Busby
              6. Herbert Chapman
              7. Arsene Wenger
              8. Bill Nicholson

That would be my top 8 in England

Hasn't Rafa had less years as a manager?

Yep he has and Wenger has had more time to be sacked and relegated but hasn't been whereas Rafa has. As I said swings and roundabouts. Both are quality managers.

Busby and Ferguson ahead of Shankly and Pasiley :whatever:
There is obviously a Man U influence in there somewhere.
Bill shankly to Tommy Smith after he'd turned up for training with a bandaged knee:
'Take that poof bandage off, and what do you mean YOUR knee, it's LIVERPOOL'S knee !'

"Sorry, boss, I should have kept my legs together," said Lawrence. "No, Tommy, your mother should have kept her legs together!," replied Shankly.

                        * After Tommy Lawrence had let in a fluke goal between his legs

I think you'll find that opinion is very divided as to whether Dalglish was a great manager. Whereas with the 7 I list I'd say there is no dispute

Totally agree. Are they honestly suggesting for example that Wenger is/was a greater manager than say Pozzo, manager of World Cup winners Italy in 1934/38. I ****ing hate lists like this. more Man U ****ing bias again. SIR matt, SIR alex.
I have one word to offer - honesty. I couldn't be devious if I tried. Joe Fagan.
