Why cant players just keep their mouths shut and put their concentration into actually doing the job

"With Ron Yeats in defence, we could play Arthur Askey in goal."

I like the confidence being in the squad but gobbing off to the press like this and talking ourselves up has never been a smart move IMHO.

Still, I actually argree with most of what he has said, even though this year might be a little too soon. I also expect FT to go through a lean spell at some point this season but he should still score a healthy number of goals in all comps.

Not having a go mate, it's just better that this stuff stays in the dressing room for now, at least in my opinion. I mean, we've got off to a good start, but that's all it is, a start. In a funny way I wouldn't have minded quite so much if this had come from Rafa, but from one of the players it seems a little out of place

well said pepe lad, its a refreshing change to hear our players speaking with confidence about WINNING the league for a change.

                Confidence breeds success.

For too long now our players have only talked about getting into the champions league for next season as there only goal.

i love the fact that we are heaping pressure on ourselves, once upon a time before sky invented football, we were the best and I for one am glad that Reina feels he can play his part in putting us back on our perch again

they believe it, we believe it and it WILL happen

I understand where you're coming from mate.

It's just that, IMO we need to have a certain arrogance about ourselves if we want to win the title. We need to believe we can, and personally, i think Reina here is heaping the pressure onto Chelsea and the Mancs rather than ourselves.

To be honest I think you have been influenced by the headline. He says that we are no longer fighting against superior opposition and that we are at least the equal of the other top four teams - surely that is exactly what we need our players to believe. We want to win the title and an important part of doing that is believing you are good enough to deserve it.

It's not as if he actually said that we were going to walk it and that all the other sides in the division are crap compared to us.
