A draw against Pompey is a good result - positivity thread

I for one would like to say a draw against Pompey is a good result considering not many teams have won at fratton park.

Its a vast improvement as in previous seasons we would have lost this game.

We were not playing against a mediocre team, we was playing against an experienced side who know how to defend from the front & probably have the most under-rated manager in the premiership.

So lets stop this childish knee-jerk reaction & do what we do best - Support the greatest team in the world - Liverpool FC

With the first 11 if they started then i would be expecting a win and a draw would of been disappointing

With so many changes a draw was good today

Got an idea, why don't we have a load of threads about how **** we are and a load about how great we are and how we should be in a great mood.

You have a good point but I suspect there will be loads of these type threads soon.

Bollocks, they aren't one of our rivals. We're better than them and therefore we should not be happy with a point. They should be happy with a point against us but in reality we were hanging on to that point.

The only time I'll be happy with a point against Pompey is if it's the last game of the season and we need a point to win the title. Anything else is 2 points dropped.

I haven't slated any of our players, that's too easy, I'm slagging the team off because we played **** as a team and should have won. If we win our next 3 league games then I will be satisfied again. The target is 10 points from every 4 games

a draw is not a good result tho, just like i wouldn't class a draw at stamford bridge a good result but i might say it was acceptable, it's still early on in the season, and i'm sure there will be worse results than this (that wasn't really positive was it)

I agree with you. If we have ambitions to win the premiership then we have to win games like that.
If all we desire is to be better than last season, then fine, a draw was a good result.

However, you are right. The target must always be 10 points from 4 games.
                  Really?

So your target for this season is 97 points?

If you did that, you would end the season unbeaten - unlikely. Even so, that target is still on for us.

All our competition have already had similar results or worse, so the 'you have to win these if you are to win the league' applies to everyone else as well.

This was always a possibility for dropping points in reality. Could have been worse.

Well no, it can only be 94 or 96 seeing as we should have 90 from 36 games.

SCUM had 50 points from 20 games last season, that's the target.

If we want to win the league, we'll need to get around 90 points to do it.

                              Nail on the head.

We are obviously a better team than 90% of the league.

The only teams on our level are The Mancs, The Arse and The Chavs.

We can all accept that we may drop points against those three teams due to their quality, but we should go into every game against the other teams expecting to win for one simple reason: we are better than them.

Of course, we're not going to win all these games, and will drop points like today, but it's what we should aim for as that's how you win the league.
