we had some excellent players out there. I thought Yossa and Crotch were innefectual, however, they should be good enough. Apart from that we had a pretty strong team.

I think you're reading too much into the team selection. If you think we won't win the league with players like that then you would have to concede that we won't win the league at all. They will play many games, Torres and Stevie won't be fit for every game.

We can win the league with players like that, because for plenty of games, we can win without having that 'something special' being produced.

Pompey away isnt like that though, it's tough and in games like that, sometimes the difference is a bit of magic, usually produced by world class players.

Look at our 11 yesterday and tell me who was in there that can produce something out of nothing, that bit of spark or dynamic brilliance than turns a draw into a win (bit like Stevie did at Villa)...

Who did we have that falls in that category:

Reina, Finnan, Arbeloa, Carra, Agger, Yossi, Pennant, Alonso, Momo, Voronin, Crouch...

Which of them is it?

For me, it's none.

And that front pairing was painfully slow and devoid of any power.

I do see where you are coming from but i disagree with you We did lack pace up front, but that is always going to be the case when Torres does not play and he WILL have to be rested sometimes. Kuyt, Voronin and Crotch are all slow

Years ago on Koptalk Mumsafan hit the nail on the head, it went something along these lines:

Some of you really need to spend less time on here. Too much time spent posting and taking what people type to heart. The written word is always open to the wrong interpretation.
