Not really, it happend often in our away games againt teams in the bottom half of the table and that was games when he really should have acted like a motivator on the pitch and worked his socks off to show the rest of the team that it's a very important game.Originally posted by kewellnthegang View Postvery very few games that happenedJust believe and you never know what will happen.
According to Benitez it's important not simply to go out to win but to go out prepared to win, which means players have to put in the same level of work on a daily basis. Anything else is unacceptable.

Going back a few years, Nigel Clough. He looked like such a class act for Forest and the ideal Liverpool player in many ways, but apart from a few games (2 goals v the scum in the 3-3 at Anfield being one of them) he became a victim of the Souness years.
Also Stan Collymore. Had a couple of superb seasons linking up with God and had all the tools to be an unbelievable player, but mentally unstable!Last edited by Slim; 18-09-07, 01:01 PM.

give you those 3
morientes was a massive dissapointment
ill name 4 more players that i believe cost us a buttload of league points:traore, xavier, josemi, pellegrino
now these are less dissappointing in that they didnt have the high expectaions of the above stars but these players are the absolute LEMONS that have cost us the most in terms of goals/points in recent years. they deserve their rightful place on the list of dissappointmentsflopsdrunk knows best

Morientes was a sickener - a player i really rated but was garbage for us.
Wouldnt go as far as a let down, but ive been disappointed with Gerrards attitude as captain in some previous games when the chips have been down and/or he isnt playing too well himself, just feel that a player of his quality could have shown a bit more at times.
Carra should be captain anyway imo but thats another story. If you've lost your faith in love and music the end won't be long

Letdowns for me, based on reputations were;
Morientes - Was chuffed when we signed him, sadly it didn't work out.
Litmannen - Did well when he played. For some reason only known to Houllier, he didn't play often.
Ziege - Was fantastic for BM, Boro & Germany, came to us after a long legal row, and never played. Had crap bleached hair too.
Kewell - Tore strips of most PL defenders at Leeds, and has been injured ever since joining us sadly.
Other mentions;
Cisse - Too erratic, no football brain, but his goals to game ratio was respectful.
Diouf - Need I say more?
Collymore - Had a fantastic partnership with Fowler for in his first season, then it all started to go tits up. Shame.

Emile Heskey
brilliant first season for us. By the time he left I wanted to wring his neck a thousand times - that last minute miss against Manure
left my throat raw from screaming at him.
On his day he was unstoppable, but by **** I was sick of that sorry hangdog expression he used to have.

Kewell
Morientes
Litmanen (for reasons already mentioned)
Le Tallec. Got carried away with GH's comments about being the new ZZ. Told all my mates that he was going to be a world beater...
Babel, such class, but let down by that god awful disease. He was brilliant when he was fit though
"If Gerrard continues to play up front, leaving this lack of creativity and intelligence in Midfield, the season WILL be over by Xmas."
I still don't think we'll finish in the top 4 this season."

Definitely Morientes, Ziege, Cisse, Diouf, Heskey, Smicer, Biscan, Le Gems, Kippe.
What the hell happened to Chris Kirkland? The number of SOFT goals he used to let in sometimes
My number 1 let down would be WORLD CUP WINNER: Bernard Diomede.
He was dire but somehow managed to play in the world cup for the best team in the World

Igor, Traore and Smicer - until Rafa arrived.
Pongolle and Le Tallec. All that hype. Rubbish.
Litmanen, though this one's all down to Ged. The ****ing idiot.
Heskey had a purple patch until the French hack destroyed his confidence by using him out wide.
Cisse was our record signing, many thought he was going to be mustard, those with sense knew he was ****e. Yes he had injuries but aside from that he was utterly mediocre, and at worst a liability, see Old Trafford 2 years ago.
Morientes had the quality, still can't work out why he didn't perform.
Biggest letdown:
Stan Collymore and Harry Kewell (Tied).
I thought we were going to win the league the summer Collymore signed, not all his fault of course - Defence? What Defence? - but I thought him and Robbie we're going to blow everyone else out of the water. They never hit it off. Shame.
Kewell. 70k a week, waste of space, always injured, except when there's a final or an Australia game. **** off.I hate Polanski

nothing whatsoever wrong with that back 5 - any defensive probs pertained to the muppet keeper behind themOriginally posted by CharlieMansonsSquint View PostI thought we were going to win the league the summer Collymore signed, not all his fault of course - Defence?
