    A good point away

Played our main rival who showed us what they were about and we will beat them at Anfield. The other two teams are whipping boys so we will top the group.
Brutal performance again though but at least we held out.

We did a good job tonight, If Pennent wasn't sent off i think they would have been for the taking late on.
      Very happy with the draw.

We did what was required to progress in the competition, we kept it tight at the back, worked hard off the ball in a difficult place to play angainst a tallented side. It was a professional Rafa job tonight.
Bill shankly to Tommy Smith after he'd turned up for training with a bandaged knee:
'Take that poof bandage off, and what do you mean YOUR knee, it's LIVERPOOL'S knee !'

"Sorry, boss, I should have kept my legs together," said Lawrence. "No, Tommy, your mother should have kept her legs together!," replied Shankly.

The way Porto players were leaping around the place like scalded salmon reminded me of their gamemanship against Celtic in the 2003 UEFA Cup Final.

            Very cynical and very frustrating.

            Dirty bunch of winkers.

Still, I would have taken a point before tonight and given how ****e we were I'm more than happy to come away with one.

You got the impression this was Porto at their best, whilst the reds were unusually lethargic and loose with possession, and on another night playing as well as we can, (and I'd hope this will be the match at Anfield) we should be capable of putting them to bed. Despite that, we clung on for a point with only 10 men. You have to see that as a good result.

In the circumstances, it was a very good point. More than satisfied with that.

                  We'll qualify with ease.

God that was pure muck last night. I had a feeling it would be though. The first away matches in the group stages are always feppin awful. You could really see that the teams mandate was to defend first and anything else was a bonus. Fair enough when they scored we seemed to reply fairly easily but after that it was back to defending 100%. That has to be a criticism of benitez hiself - i mean if we are really going to be contenders at the top level in all our competitions we have to develop more of a ruthless winning mentality - porto were decent but were there for the taking at the same time. The old adage of 'win your home games and anything else is a bonus' when it comes to the champions league has some validity alright but it is frustrating for us to watch when we know that the team was only operating on about 50% of their capability. Furthermore if Benitez is saying that he wants to qualify early from the group then why the fup were his tactics so defensive. We should have won that match comfortably.

A point in Porto is always acceptable but i'm not necessarily going to regard 'acceptable' as good enough from this team anymore. I think we should be more consistent with our approach to games.

When was the last time Porto were beaten at home in the Champions League? I can't believe some of the comments this morning. You can't win every game and last night we were **** big deal we had an off night but we still got a point. Surely that's the sign of a good team that can play ****e go down to 10 men yet still walk away with a point. Apart from their peno and Sami's clearance how many chances did they have?

Fair post apart from the last sentence. I counted 2 or 3 easy chances for them before the penalty. We were abysmal for the first 10 minutes.
