pennant is an out and out winger who's at his best in a 4-4-2. his job is to get past his man and get dangerous crosses or balls into the box.Originally posted by red g View Posthave to say, i watched the highlights again and thought quaresma wasnt all that.
but as for Pennant, i have never been a afan and yes he can cross the ball but in my eyes we need a lot more from our wingers, we need a goal threat from the wings and Pennant hs never been that, he deserves his place in the side because he is the best we have got, doesnt mean it is good enough though
name me wingers who play in a 4-4-2 and score many goals from open play?
the ones you're talking about are more like forwards playing mostly in 4-3-3 like systems, ie robben or ronaldo. having said that, yes, he can improve his shooting because it is certainly one of his weaknesses.

Agreed. I dont like laying into our players but ask yourself has pennant got what it takes to perform at a high level on a consistent basis? Excuses not withstanding Im not sure whether he has the pedigree to be the sort of winger that the club needs. Im not saying get rid of him but I think we need other optionsOriginally posted by red g View Postor has never been a goal threat. Quaresma was everything tonight a liverpool winger should be
He looked more of a threat than pennant has in all his time at liverpool"I watched the Champions League quarter-finals and the way they crushed Arsenal. Only the greatest and the best can play such a match.

Do you not think it would be fair using all of Pennant's game and goals for your stat instead of just with us. You have used carrers for all the other players and just 1 and a bit seasons for Pennant.Originally posted by red g View PostHleb

i agree i think this will be the case, pennant might stay but the other two will be gone by the summer...Originally posted by PostmanPat View PostHe has no goalscoring instinct at all.Gerrard will end up at RW until we sign a top class winger.Pennant will leave with Crouch and Kewell this year.

What a silly thing to say. Pennant has been one of our best performers for about 8 months now.
Chelsea could only get a pointWhy am I not surprised you havn't noticed pennant's performances over the last while.Originally posted by PostmanPat View Post
He is stupid at times. He is nowhere near good enough for us.
How often do you actually watch us?

Quaresman was indifferent at best. He gave the ball away numerous times and was generally wasteful besides a few good runs and bits of skill.
