Messi is another one, but he is improving at a frightening rate.....but a la gerrard tonight when he had that burst through the centre messi sometimes used to do just 1 or 2 great things a game.

As it happens i think this will be the year of the messi

With the absense of Alonso and Mascherano, and knowing Rafa's prefered tactics of liking to have a screen of two infront of the back 4, Gerrard was obviously told to keep it diciplined tonight and not to try bursting forward at every opportunity, I think it is a part of his game that he needs more practice at, being disciplined that is, as he is such a free spirit normally on the pitch.
I have no doubt had Alonso or Momo being playing tonight in midfield along with Mascherano. Gerrard would have had a much better game.
Bill shankly to Tommy Smith after he'd turned up for training with a bandaged knee:
'Take that poof bandage off, and what do you mean YOUR knee, it's LIVERPOOL'S knee !'

"Sorry, boss, I should have kept my legs together," said Lawrence. "No, Tommy, your mother should have kept her legs together!," replied Shankly.

        * After Tommy Lawrence had let in a fluke goal between his legs

              As I see it.

Gerrard had been out injured and then played two games in a few days for England. Everyone could see how tired he was after the first game, he even got cramp and had to go off.

He then had to reload his batteries for the second game a few days later and played an excellent game but that game took a lot out of him.

He needs a rest and I won't be surprised if he will be given the Birmingham and Reading game off.
Just believe and you never know what will happen.

According to Benitez it's important not simply to go out to win but to go out prepared to win, which means players have to put in the same level of work on a daily basis. Anything else is unacceptable.

Doesn't look match fit to me. As AF 11 states He ambled around for England last week too.

No doubt he'll be back to his best soon.

To physical for him me thinks. Birmingham will want to get stuck in and we'll need to have experience in the middle.

That is why Lucas should play. We should use their weakness and not play to their strenghts.

If we play a quick passing game, I know that sounds unrealistic after tonights game, then we will put them in a lot more trouble than if we play a tough physical game.
