    Babel is no winger

in the games i've seen so far he has been rather ineffective in that position.havent really seen him when he was at ajax but i personally think that he would offer right up the pitch....might have scored agains villa on opening day if not for the keeper and of course who can forget the one against derby.just imagine him with his pace and power latching on to thru balls up front instead of starting a move himself which i see clearly that he has problem s with .
with the rumours of crouch moving...i think it would be a good experiment ....plus we could use the money a buy a proper winger .having brought this point up,i'm relieved that we saw the real pennant today...naive and stupid. a lot of ppl here have been hyping him up...and finally it all came crashing down todayfor him..even rafa was talking him up. its better that we realise what he can or not do in the first few weeks of the season instead of waiting till its too late to do anything about it.hence i believe if we do get to sell crouch for a decent price lets say 10 million...and if we cam pump in another 15...quaresma could be ours...and we would still have 4 strikers with babel being able to play up front.
finally dirk kuyt...i havent really been a fan of him.but today DIRK KUYT....stand up and take a bow .he was absolutely immense from up the park to down defending at times as a right back.as for the others i wouldnt really be concerned too much...obviously jaded from international duty. in the end a 1-1 scoreline is something we should really be happy with having been outplayed for most part of the match today

Babel can work as a winger if he plays in the 4-3-3/4-5-1 system like he does for Holland. He has blistering pace and not a half bad shot. He just needs to be disciplined. He will eventually pick it up, its his first season and he is very young. Give him time!

        Welcome.

I too think he would be more effective as a striker but look at Henry before he went to Arsenal.
Babel is young and still learning the game.
        He'll come good.

I like Babel but I do think he looks alot better and more productive on the right than he does on the left. In time I think he'll be a very good player for us.

any1 else think that babel would do better if the pitch was wet, he always gets the ball caught under his feet on a dry lush surface but if its a bit greasy he does much better running with the ball as it skids along better.

He's producing in flashes at the moment, game time and a few goals/decent performances will do him the world of good.

Agree he looks better on the right, and I also agree he may be better upfront.

For now though, keep your head down lad, you clearly have the ability

Well who did we see in the final last month? Only two weeks ago people calling for england call up yet now you want him out. Pennant will learn from this and has really improved his game since he joined.

I would love to see quarsema play against bolton away on a cold wet january night. am sure he would just boot the ball over the bar like he did towards the end of the game

ANyway not sure what people are complaining aboit, United Inter and Chavski all lost there. Porto are not a bad side

I haven't really been impressed with Babel so far this season. Ok, he scored a great goal against Derby but he hasn't really done much else. He may have blistering pace but seriously I think I could count on two hands the amount of times he's attempted to beat his man.

I really hope he starts to improve as I am bit concerend at the moment.

He's a much better player on the right. JP's sending off might mean he gets a chance to play there in the next CL game.
