3 bosses comments.. - Reading Between the Lines

Jose Mourinho's departure from Chelsea has been the big talking point of the English game this week.

Here the managers of his three main rivals in the Premier League give their views.

    SIR ALEX FERGUSON (Manchester United)

"Jose leaving Chelsea is a disappointment for the game.

"He was terrific for football and terrific for Chelsea. He brought something fresh and new to our game and I enjoyed the competition with him. I wish him well but I just don't know what I am going to do with my wine now." :whatever:

    ARSENE WENGER (Arsenal)

"We didn't get on the best but recently it has become better.

"That does not hide the fact I respected what he did and the quality of his work.

"Of course he is a great manager. He arrived when Chelsea were on the way up; they had a good side already and he did something more and made them winners." :whatever:

    RAFAEL BENITEZ (Liverpool)

"You know my relationship with him, it is better that I do not say anything. At the moment I am more worried about Birmingham boss Steve Bruce."

    ...Benitez
    Cheers

The way the media are treating the story, its as if Maureen died and not got the sack.
    We come not to play.

José is a loss. I loved the man. He's developed such a bond with his players, one I'd like to see here, even though Rafa's done very well ... José's players would run through brick walls for him.

Exactly, it's utterly pathetic now, big headline on SSN earlier 'Fergie pays Mourinho tribute'...he's still alive and can return to English football at some point ffs
It would be interesting to see the reaction if (god forbid) Rafa left us, see how much coverage that would create.

Why ? I liked him as a character even though he got on my nerves with his comments but it was done in a clever way, in José's way.

Rafael Benitez was unable to muster any compliments for Jose Mourinho following the former Chelsea manager's Stamford Bridge exit.

While other Mourinho adversaries such as Arsene Wenger and Sir Alex Ferguson found the time to speak up for the Portuguese, the Liverpool manager had nothing to say.

There was a shared animosity between Benitez and Mourinho which was heightened by the Reds' UEFA Champions League semi-final triumphs over the two-time Premier League champions.

                  Relationship

And Benitez said: "You know my relationship with him, it is better that I do not say anything.

"At the moment I am more worried about Birmingham boss Steve Bruce."

When quizzed further, the Anfield manager again preferred to concentrate on Saturday's Premier League clash.

                  Focus

Benitez added: "It is not a good idea for a manager to talk about other clubs in this situation.

"I would prefer not to say anything. What is clear is that Chelsea still have a good team with a lot of very good players.

"The best thing for Liverpool is to continue to focus on what we are doing and to continue to improve ourselves and play well. Not to think about what is happening anywhere else.

"That would be dangerous, I am more interested in Liverpool, not with any problems at other clubs."

Fair play to Rafa for not getting caught up in the Maureen love fest.

As Frodo said you'd swear Mourinho had died given the level and tone of the coverage.

Managers leave clubs all the time, sure he's a very high profile manager but get over it.

He hates losing and he's demonstrative as ****, to the point where he would be ridiculed ... But I like that, he tells it like it is. Fantastic motivator of men, look at what will be happening at Chelsea now and that bond he created with the players ... In a way it may not be a good thing, if it rocks the boat for them.

But who cares ... Let's look at what our team can do, not others.
