    Alonso!

When he plays we say that he should have played better, that he should score more in the premiership etc.

When he does not play we say that we miss his creative and precise passing, his perfect long balls...

    Life's like that!

He is a wonderful player though.

The team seems to stutter without him!

He loses balls too much if you ask me and if our defence wasn't as good as it is, we could have conceded a lot of goals from open play this season.

But he is class though and that is permanent!

We haven’t seen his 40 yard pin point passing in a long time and as ive said it before when he plays with Stevie he's restricted in what he does almost takes a back seat and doesnt make his mark on games

There are 4 truly TOP CLASS players in our squad.

          1.Alonso
          2.Gerrard
          3.Carra
          4.Torres

No particular order. we have some great players after that but not fantasy world 11'ers!

I think Alonso is the creative heartbeat of our team and Agger allows us to play a much higher line, to lose both of them is a massive blow.

He USED to be a wonderful player! god only knows where the real alonso has gone.
The whole team has been playing poorly lately - it's ludicrous to suggest that someone as out of form as alonso would have made the slightest bit of difference. I'm afraid you're clutching at straws with this one.

Xabi Alonso is a genius. He does not have the right players in front of him to show that at the moment. If he left us and joined a team with good wingers and pacy strikers with good movement then he would be even better.
Oh the man is a midfield maestro
and his passes are sooo delightful

I would say that Agger, Reina and Masher are also truly top class, and if Finnan isn't a brilliant full-back he is at least brilliantly consistent.

We sorely missed Alonso on Saturday. With Bham surrendering possession every time they crossed the half way line - Xabi would have been able to dictate the pace and the shape of the game far better than the feeble effort mustered by Stevie and Masher who were very poor (but thats another story).

Xabi would have taken the ball from Sami and hit quicker, more incisive passes and got the ball into the danger (wide) area's earlier than we managed on saturday - thus leaving the opposition less time to funnel back and regain their shape, 4-5-1.
The added benefit of Alonso running the game is that it frees up Stevie to do what he does best - attacking the knock downs and driving towards the opposition penalty area.

                            That's my two penneth anyway.

That's the sign of a player who does his job really well when he's out we really miss him when he's in he's seamless and does the things we expect him to do.
He is a class player and we will miss him for the next few weeks. When he plays alongside Stevie he is restricted but alongside Mascher he has more freedom and we have seen the results of him pushing forward when allowed to.
