I have not posted for a while but I have been lurking and I kind of get the feeling that many on here are forgetting something.
Crouch, Voronin, Kuyt, Pennant and many others from further back are players no other big club was even considering buying. Rafa has been able to create a world class defense and center of midfield, but has not until now had the money to buy top class strikers or winger.
Now we have Torres, who Man U (among others) where looking at. And Babel who Arsenal where seriously looking at. The only truly top class attackers we have had at our club for many, many years have been home grown. The last top class attacker we bought was probably Barnes.
We where looking at but missed out on: Villa, Alves, Duff, SWP and probably many others we dont know about or I have forgotten.
In light of that it is IMHO very unfair to compare Rafa to Alex or Morinho in terms of the league.
It is my hope that in the future we will only see players brought in who are in the same class as Torres and Babel.
