The reason he has done this is down to many reasons, his tactical knowledge is second to none. There hasnt been a manager born yet that gets EVERY decision right, but I have never seen a manager get his tactics right as often as Rafa does. Also, he is mentally strong, he picks HIS team, not what player power or fan power dictates. He sticks with rotation, even though a million internet managers tell him its wrong, because HE BELIEVES ITS THE BEST WAY TO GET RESULTS OVER THE COURSE OF A SEASON. And judging by the fact we are generally the best team each season from november onwards this would seem to be correct. Now that we have finally had a good start to a season, god only knows how good we will be when we really kick into form in a month or so.

Finally, and most importantly, he is not too proud to admit mistakes. Morientes, Pellegrino, Kromkamp etc under a lot of managers would still be playing and still be struggling week in and week out due to the managers fear of admitting he dropped a bollock by selling them. Not with Rafa.

Finally, I would like to say a big **** OFF to some of the ballbags on this site who have been talking about getting rid of Rafa you know who you are

Having a moan after a bad result is fair enough, i bet even Rafa goes home and has a moody moan to the misses also. But for people to call for Rafa to get the sack just proves they're idiots of the highest order or more likely WUM's!

                    Evening all.

I've got many points to make in this thread, but in Coops defense the first one is this:

Those of us who pay a fortune to watch the team had to endure years of Boltonesque long ball bollox which is an anathema to those of us brought up on the great pass-and-move teams of the 70's and 80's. Rafa has changed all that, and we are now playing the best football seen at Anfield for 10 years or more. This means a LOT if you're shelling out a fortune every July for a new seasie - you actually do it with relish instead of by instinct.
'Of course I didn't take my wife to see Rochdale as an anniversary present.
                    It was her birthday.
Would I have got married during the football season ?
                    Anyway, it was Rochdale reserves.'

Great post. As much as we may be baffled by some of Rafa's selections and criticise him for that, I've no doubts we are in an infinitely better situation than under Houllier when not only were we drab, we were going nowhere. Rafa has put us firmly back on the map

The only time I've really slated Rafa was after he played a bunch of no-marks in the 3rd round of the FA cup against Burnley in 2005 when Djimi scored that incredible OG.
I kept the unfair criticism going when he kept playing weakened teams in the league that season and we finished 5th.
I remember I kept sayign how it was pointless to focus on the Champions League as we'd never win it.

                        How wrong I was.
These days I'm a bit more guarded when I criticise him. His selections are baffling at times and I had a dig at him after the Pompey result, but I really do think he's got a grand plan and he's earned the faith to let him carry out his plan, whether we understand it or not.

I've no problem with people questioning his decisions, but there has been a massive over-reaction in recent threads with people saying he'll never win the title fo LFC etc. Keep the faith

been agreeing over at cocktalk with you. I was fuming and couldnt understand it and everytime i am baffled now i just think back to then. The time to have a go is at the end of the season after rafa's masterplan has come to fruition

Things from the game on Saturday were said in the heat of the moment as we didn't win. To bring out all them posts is bordering on the ridiculous.
