    Lucas the striker
Well, he played as an attacking midfielder sometimes in Brazil and I didn't say as a striker. I said that he should play as the attacking playmaker. The position Kuyt/Voronin now plays in.
Just believe and you never know what will happen.

According to Benitez it's important not simply to go out to win but to go out prepared to win, which means players have to put in the same level of work on a daily basis. Anything else is unacceptable.

Playing in the hole is the only place that he can get some games and he will be better than the players we have playing there now IMO.

He scored a lot of goals being a midfielder in Brazil so he can do a job in that position.
Surely Ryan Babel would be the player to do this though? Although personally i like the way Kuyt supports Torres by linking midfield and attack up, even if it is to the detriment of his own scoring rate.

For what it's worth AFII is right about Lucas not being solely a defensive midfielder. Tim Vickery keeps banging on about Lucas being Brazil's big hope as a box-to-box midfielder. Wasn't he among the high scorers in some FIFA tournament?

And Bazza, sorry, but it's LEIVA......not Levia, I keep seeing this and it bugs me no-end......no offence intended
        * The above is posted in my opinion. Feel free to disagree.

thought he was quality. ok, he didnt totally dominate but he was never going to in his first proper game but the lad showed some good touches. he had the ability to make space for himself which is vital in the epl and he also showed a good understanding with torres at times slipping passes through blindly. definitely going to be quality
          in january we were doomed.

in august we will rise from the ashes of ****e and march on again

At least I wasn't the only one that noticed that.

I know its a big comparison but he reminds me of Steven Gerrard when he first broke in to the team, a young guy with undoubted talent but still finding his feet in the first team, building confidence and trying to get the confidence of his team mates.

He needs more games to show us what he's about, but i think he will come good.
                We come not to play.

How on earth have you come to that conclusion from one game against Reading in the Carling Cup? There has been no indication that this is Rafa's plan but you seem to think you can read our managers mind that he's going to turn Lucas into a striker?

Again I didn't say that he should play as a striker. I said that he should play in Kuyts position as the attacking playmaker behind the striker.

And you think Rafa is going to this?

Has Rafa ever said that's where he thinks Lucas will play? Does Rafa not like Kuyt anymore? I thought he was one of Rafa's favorites? Or have you come to this conclusion because YOU don't like Kuyt anymore?

That's about the only thing that makes me cringe on a forum

As for your question, he was poor again. A "passenger" he was described as by the commenary team.

I like Kuyt but he isn't good enough to play in the position he do. Play him as a striker and he will probably deliver.

I didn't say that Rafa has said where Lucas will play. I gave my opinion where I think Rafa will play him because he will probably not get a game in the league as a central midfielder. We have four other central midfielders who need to play to be match fit.

So really you're post should have read?

"If I was Rafa I might consider playing Lucas just behind Torres"

                              Not

"I have a feeling that Rafa will use him in Kuyts position to do the same work Kaka do for Milan."

Now I know your first language isn't English and in fact you probably speak it better than me but this is where I get confused and frustrated sometimes with your posts.

                                Lucas looks class.
Reminded me of what I thought the time when Alonso signed.
After just watching him for 10 minutes I knew we had a class player on our hands.
