    Players Fit For The Derby?

    Carra & Momo back?

    From sportinglife.com

Liverpool defender Jamie Carragher is confident he could be back in time to
to play in next weekend's Merseyside derby with Everton.
Carragher suffered an ankle injury on the first day of the season at
Sheffield United and has been sidelined since, missing out on a Champions
League match as well as England's current Euro 2008 qualifying squad.
In his place at Liverpool, Daniel Agger has done extremely well, but boss
Rafael Benitez would want his tough defender back for a Mersey showdown.
Carragher said: "It's touch and go, I hope I will be available and my
recovery has been going well. We will just have to wait and see how I am in
    the coming week."

    Sissoko boost for Reds

    Sep 4 2006

    By Chris Bascombe, Liverpool Echo

MOMO SISSOKO is winning his fitness battle ahead of this weekend's derby.

But injured duo Jamie Carragher and John Arne Riise remain doubtful for the trip to Goodison, as neither have yet resumed training.

Sissoko has made most progress since suffering damaged medial knee ligaments in the recent Champions League qualifier.

Manager Rafa Benitez is hopeful the African will be declared fit after his swift recovery.

Of greater concern are the ankle injuries to Carragher and Riise, neither of which have fully healed yet.

Carragher will know by Wednesday if he can step up his comeback at Melwood to give himself a realistic chance of facing the Blues.

Riise, who is still receiving treatment at Melwood, has now been ruled out of Norway's Euro 2008 qualifier with Moldova on Wednesday.

Liverpool insist there was no chance of their full-back being fit enough to play in the game.

At this stage, both Carragher and Riise are no more than '50-50' for a derby place.

Benitez faces an anxious wait to see if the rest of his international contingent return unscathed on Thursday morning.

The international double bill couldn't have come at a worse time with Liverpool facing three tough away fixtures - at Goodison, against PSV Eindhoven next Tuesday and Chelsea on September 17.

I shall only be going out at night if we win. The fella behind the bar in the pub is blue and he does my head in. His dad is even worse! His Grandad is cool(and red) though. He robbed me a purple bin from off the East Lancs road

Sissoko should bottle up his healing powers and sell them to kirkland 'Momo's Miracle cures '

I will be drinking before the game, going to the game and celebrating a win with a few drinks after the game.

Although I won't be going into town.

                      Momo is defo back:

Momo Sissoko will be fit for this weekend's Merseyside derby after recovering from a knee injury.
The Liverpool midfielder sustained the knock against Maccabi Haifa in the Champions League qualifying round but has now returned to full training and is available for selection at Goodison Park.

Manager Rafael Benitez, however, still doesn't know if either Jamie Carragher or John Arne Riise will be fit in time to play this weekend as both continue to recover from ankle injuries.

"Momo is fit and has been training normally at Melwood," said the Liverpool boss.

"It's more difficult to tell with John or Carra and we won't know until Thursday if they have a chance."

Benitez is keeping his fingers crossed that his international stars return unscathed from tonight's European Championships qualifying action.

He added: "The players will be back with us tomorrow but there's no time really to do what we'd like before the derby. All we can do is make sure they have recovered from their international matches.

"The important thing is they all come back fit and without problems. That's our hope."
