I think that incident was out of character for him.

Babbel was never a nasty player.

I think he just snapped and took out all the frustration of his illness and diminshed ability after his illness on the poor teenager.

If he had played for us for a few more years at the level he showed in his first season he could have become a Liverpol legend.
A humble guy with healthy desire.

Absolute top player and never quite the same after the illness.

      Guillain-Barre syndrome wasn’t it?

One of my best friends, also an LFC fan, has recently been struck down by it. Had a bit of a cold and then once that had gone started with pins and needles in his legs which gradually continued up his entire body before leaving him paralysed. He’s recovering well, ahead of schedule if you like, but it’s going to be a good 4-6 months before he is back to his normal self (well as close to normal as he can be, possible 30% less strength in his body).

Now I realise completely what Markus went though so YNWA Markus, glad you recovered and YNWA Foxy (need to get him on this site) for your recovery!

People forget that the illness that struck him down would have killed most people it was only his conditioning and fitness that allowed him to pull thru

its sad he was never the same player after that
Lawrenson:"Well thats 3 good chances they have had in the first 3 minutes of this half"

Motson:"" Yes Mark, you could almost say that they have had 3 chances in as many minutes"

Lawrenson: Errr I thought I just did say that, John"
