    RUTHLESS: Crouch's complaining angers Benitez

England star Peter Crouch has been warned he will be dumped by Liverpool if he keeps on moaning – just like one-time Anfield record buy Djibril Cisse.

Crouch has once again annoyed manager Rafa Benitez by claiming that his game is suffering because of his manager’s rotation system.

But a reminder of just how ruthless Benitez can be arrives at Anfield on Wednesday night in the shape of French striker Cisse.

Cisse cost Liverpool £14million from Auxerre in July 2004 – a fee only surpassed by Fernando Torres’ £20m arrival – but fell out of favour under Benitez.

Scorer of one of the penalties in Liverpool’s Champions League spot-kick triumph over AC Milan in 2005, Cisse was shipped off to Marseille on loan before a permanent £6m deal with the French club was agreed over the summer.

Cisse will be back at Anfield this week in the Champions League – and his presence will serve as a warning to Crouch.

Benitez insists that Cisse, signed by previous boss Gerard Houllier, had every opportunity to succeed under the new regime.

“Cisse is a good striker with pace and we must be aware of him on Wednesday,” Benitez warned.

“He had enough games to prove he was a good player. Sometimes I asked him to play as a winger and he was unhappy about that.

“Now I hear that Crouch is saying he is unhappy that he can’t reach his ideal level because he isn’t playing enough games.

“Like in Cisse’s case, I need to think about the squad and the team – and not one player. “There is competition in each position in a top side and that can be hard. But that is the situation.”

Benitez will not be distracted from his controversial decision to rotate his four strikers – Crouch, Torres, Andriy Voronin and Dirk Kuyt. When it doesn’t work the radio phone-ins crackle with criticism, even though Benitez has plenty of credit in the bank for his Champions League success.

Newcastle boss Sam Allardyce even suggested that Benitez could have been sacked for failing to mount a serious Premier League title assault had it not been for his brilliant results in continental combat.

That idea received short shrift from Liverpool chief executive Rick Parry, who said: “I am not necessarily surprised at Sam Allardyce’s comments but it’s probably best if he focuses on his own issues. We support Rafa wholeheartedly.

“We understand Rafa’s policies. We don’t get swayed from one week to the next. He produces the results It’s his judgement that counts.”

Rafa is great. Basically telling Crouch to shut up or **** off. He can't say it in more simpler terms by saying "just like Cisse".

          **** Crouch off.

If he wants to play every game then fine. Good luck to him when he is in a team challenging for 6th and making the QF of the FA and League Cups.

Rafa is the gaffer. Crouchy needs to remember this, apologize to the manager and knuckle down in training. Sweat your bollocks off lad if you want to rescue your Liverpool career.

Crouch usually says the right thing, no? Where's this supposed 'moaning' been? Huh? Eh? What?

              The last quotes from Crouch:

CROUCH HAPPY TO FIGHT FOR PLACE

Peter Crouch has once again reiterated his desire to fight for a regular starting place in Rafael Benitez's team.

The Reds' striker made his first league start of the season on Saturday, but was replaced after an hour of the goalless stalemate at Portsmouth as Liverpool slipped off the top of the league table.

Crouch admits he'd like to have made more starts this term, but he's determined to prove himself an important member of the squad as the campaign goes on.

"There are times when it can be frustrating," said Crouch. "But I fully understand the manager's thinking and when called upon, I just have to make sure I'm ready.

"Maybe I'm not playing every week but I'll certainly get a good amount of games. Look at the team this season. We're challenging for the league, the Champions League, FA Cup and League Cup. I want to be part of that and hopefully come away with a few medals.

"Everyone wants to be playing games. All the lads are greedy and want to play every game, but the manager has told me it is not possible to play in every game with the number of competitions we are in. That's good enough for me.

"Hopefully I can play a few more games than I have been doing, but I'm not too frustrated. I am confident I will get a good amount of games this year."

Yossi should recommend his agent to Crouchie. Maybe then he will be able to play week in week out, for a middle-premiership team.

The way I see it, the more Crouch talks, the worse he makes it. I think Rafa is trying to prove a point by saying this

Trouble is they all have media advisors now. He'll say something like this in one paper, and send a signal that he's pissed off in another. It's bascially agents.....he's getting bad advice. He needs to wise up quickly or he's out the door. Still portsmouth gets a lot of sun in the summer despite being a dump.

What he says in public and what he says to his agent and all the other players can be 2 very different things.

One things for sure, his body language on the pitch this season has been that of a player sulking, feeling sorry for himself and not putting the required effort in.

Rafa wants players who come in to bust a gut to keep the shirt, peter has been doing anything but this season.

It sounds as though the writings on the wall for him eh, the last thing a player should do is question Rafas team selection espesially when we have a world class Coach such as Rafa, imo.

I don't understand how people get baited by these sensationalist headlines.

What Rafa has said isn't new and he certainly didn't bash Crouch, while the latter has never publicly criticized Rafa's management. Instead he has highlighted his desire to stay and fight for his place.

What Crouch has said is right though.
I am not saying that he is right to talk publicly about rotation causing his form to dip, but I have no doubt that lack of games is what is costing him his form.
Bill shankly to Tommy Smith after he'd turned up for training with a bandaged knee:
'Take that poof bandage off, and what do you mean YOUR knee, it's LIVERPOOL'S knee !'

"Sorry, boss, I should have kept my legs together," said Lawrence. "No, Tommy, your mother should have kept her legs together!," replied Shankly.
