    Liverpool swoop for Irish wonderkid

Liverpool are lining up a bid for Hamilton Accies youngster James McCarthy, according to reports.
The Daily Mirror reports that McCarthy is being tracked by Liverpool boss Rafa Benitez after the Republic of Ireland prospect spent time on trial at Anfield earlier this year.

Benitez told the player to stay with the Scottish League One side to gain more experience, and is expected to swoop for the star at the end of the season.

It is believed that Liverpool scouts have monitored McCarthy's performances throughout the season so far.

Liverpool aim to beat Man Utd for Cofie
    tribalfooball.com - September 30, 2007

Liverpool are aiming to trump Manchester United for Burnley teenager John Cofie.

United were expecting to tie up one of the most exciting talents around for about £1m.

But Liverpool hope to pull off a major coup for the young striker - because his family are all mad Kopites, says the People.

Chelsea have also made an offer but their scouts have been banned from Burnley home youth games to stop them seeing too much of the kid in action.
Just believe and you never know what will happen.

According to Benitez it's important not simply to go out to win but to go out prepared to win, which means players have to put in the same level of work on a daily basis. Anything else is unacceptable.

The McCarthy situation was a strange one. Never saw him play but was disappointed when we didn't get him (which is bizarre) - Rafa really seemed keen though and we couldn't tie up a deal. Maybe there was something agreed that he would stay there for a year gaining experiece before moving on, seem to remember his agent making noises along these lines at the time

I noticed McCarthy scored for the Accies the other week. Isn't he still just 16?

"Sky and Setanta have the right to choose their games and it will be the same for everyone. So Mr Ferguson will not be complaining about fixtures and a campaign against United.

"Or there is another option. That Mr Ferguson organises the fixtures in his office and sends it to us and everyone will know and cannot complain. That is simple."
