Usmanov was close to sealing a deal to buy Liverpool

    USMANOV LOOKED TO BUY RIVALS
    Martin Lipton In Moscow 02/10/2007

Would-BE Arsenal owner Alisher Usmanov held talks about buying into Liverpool AND Spurs - but pulled out because of his "love affair" with the Gunners.

Uzbek-born Usmanov had paid £120million to take a 23 per cent stake in Arsenal through his investment company Red and White Holdings Limited, and has pledged to keep on buying more.

But the steel and mining billionaire could have bought ENIC boss Joe Lewis's controlling stake in Spurs for £100m two years ago.

And he sounded out the Liverpool board 18 months ago, before last year's £219m sale to Americans George Gillett and Thomas Hicks.

Usmanov decided the price for a majority share in Tottenham - now worth at least £250m - was too high. The 54-year-old was also close to sealing a deal to buy Liverpool, only to pull out because he felt he would be turning his back on Arsenal.

A source close to the businessman explained: "Alisher loves Arsenal."

Just believe and you never know what will happen.

According to Benitez it's important not simply to go out to win but to go out prepared to win, which means players have to put in the same level of work on a daily basis. Anything else is unacceptable.

sounds like the statement a new player comes out with: "I supported this club since when i was a nipper"

He has to win over the Gooners some how.
          We come not to play.

dont trust them ****in russians, i can see roman pulling out and leaving chavski in a whole world of **** sending them back where they belong, the odd fa cup semi final
"Sky and Setanta have the right to choose their games and it will be the same for everyone. So Mr Ferguson will not be complaining about fixtures and a campaign against United.

"Or there is another option. That Mr Ferguson organises the fixtures in his office and sends it to us and everyone will know and cannot complain. That is simple."

He's probably the ugliest looking billionaire and potential footballer club owner

Look at him.....just look at him you can see he has enjoyed a few steaks while the poor people of Russian looked at him through the Restaurant window in the snow

When you feel like you're done, you are not alone........
