Man U have a system they have played for 15+ years. Any new player will easily know how to play because they will play in the same position week in week out.

Chelsea have only rotated players when they got injured/suspended.
Just believe and you never know what will happen.

According to Benitez it's important not simply to go out to win but to go out prepared to win, which means players have to put in the same level of work on a daily basis. Anything else is unacceptable.

I don't think rotation is THE issue, but I think it is AN issue.

The thing is, no rotation = no Rafa.

The next month will be Rafa's toughest so far since he joined us. I'm happy that we have an international break soon because I think some of the players need to get away from the club and start from square one again.

seems i made my post in the wrong thread.
I am all for rotation, but I think at the start of the season you have to ease into it, not go straight for the rotation jugular. especially when we have so many new arrivals on board. IMO I takes time for the squad to settle as it has done every season since Rafa has arrived. then we get better and better as the season progresses. It is not just coincidence IMO. I have no doubt after we get over this latest confidence problem, it will be business as usual. The only way out of this hole is to play our strongest 11 to get confidence up, Rafa can still do a little bit of juggling as our best 11 can vary depending on who the opposition is. We have some important games coming up. The likes of Leto should be coming on if we are 2-0 up and controlling a game. I have no doubt Crouch's bad form is to do with rotation, having said that, I can understand Rafa's liking for the partnership of Kuyt and Torres.
Bill shankly to Tommy Smith after he'd turned up for training with a bandaged knee:
'Take that poof bandage off, and what do you mean YOUR knee, it's LIVERPOOL'S knee !'

"Sorry, boss, I should have kept my legs together," said Lawrence. "No, Tommy, your mother should have kept her legs together!," replied Shankly.

            PS.
The poll question should read, is rotation costing us our early season form, because we are always strong finishers under Rafa, unlike our early season form, there is clearly a pattern.

I would play almost the same team against Spurs. Mascherano instead of Sissoko and Aurelio on the left midfield instead of Leto. Arbeloa would play left back. Kuyt instead of Crouch.

Nothing to do with rotation. Zilch. If those rotated can't perform then **** off!

But Scott, when Man Utd won the league having implemented rotation every bit as much as Rafa did with us, people didn't say 'oh they won it thanks to rotation'. Rightly so, because it's too simplistic and ignores the **** load of other factors that make a difference. That works both ways, it shouldn't automatically be seen as the clear deciding factor when things are going wrong either - it just ignores the real problems. Don't care how many changes we make, we should still be able to work together as a team, have some coherent pattern of play, and show some desire. We did it all that early on in the season when we were rotating just as much, so what's changed? Clearly it's not rotation, there are more fundamental problems.

I take your point and it's obviously not the root of all the problems at the moment but it's a problem all the same. When the team is performing as poorly as it has been I would have thought that the best thing for Rafa to do would be to play his best eleven, or as close to it as possible, for a run of matches to try and get a bit of consistency going. That's what the likes of Ferguson and Wenger do. Yes, every manager rotates but 5 changes one week, 6 the next etc... is over doing it imho. It's rotationfor rotations sake.

Take tonight for instance. Why did Babel not play on the left? Why did Leto, who's had very little time in the first team, play ahead of a player who cost the club £11m and hasn't played for the last two matches? It's baffling to say the least and it did nobody any good, especially Leto who will probably not play in the first team for a very long time and probably be ****ting himself next time he plays. It was a poor decision by Rafa and it was, imho, rotation for rotations sake.
