    the midfield was missing tonight.

Xabi would of made a difference end of.

Stevie either needs a rest or a kick up the backside and not by Momo as we don't need Stevie with a broken nose.
Its times like these we learn to live again FF

How Mascherano never started tonight is something that I couldn't get my head round. Stevie and Momo just don't gel. Never have and by the looks of things never will. When Momo plays Stevie is far to deep trying to help out for Momo's mistakes.

We are missing Alonso like hell. He may not ping 40 yard passes with accuracy but he does provide an outlet for defenders and midfielders.

Mascherano is like Torres,Stevie, Pepe and Carra should NOT be dropped

Xabi is a great player but we should be able to survive without him or Agger.

Should be, but we can't. We have a lot of depth in our squad, but obviously not the quality.

A point on Sissoko - I genuinely think he is a bit intimidated playing alongside Gerrard. Xabi allows Momo to do his thing and keep everything ticking over, whereas Gerrard, the obvious go-to man and fans favourite, brings a lot of the spotlight back to centre midfield and back towards Sissoko.

To me he looked really low on confidence tonight and as his night got worse he was never going to play himself out of it. Its obvious to everyone that Sissoko and Gerrard do not link together but he looks scared of playing alongside him whereas as Xabi allows him to thrive and (probably) gives him more confidence and belief

Even when your low on confidence you should be able to do the simple things, pass the ball 5 yards. And if he is intimated by playing alongside Gerrard after 2 years then he does not have the mentality to be a liverpool player.

Momo's passing is average, barely acceptable when he is on form. When he is
is in normal form his passing is abysmal.

And when he is not on confidence, his passing is among the worst I have ever seen in top flight football.

Such a variance is unacceptable for a liverpool player, especially a central midfielder.

I think the problem lately is more that the rest of the midfield has been ****e rather than missing Xabi all that much, especially given he's been decidedly below-par himself this season...Masher's radar was off the other day and Momo was at his sunday-league worst tonight (costing us 3 points in the process), and with Stevie off form ever since he played for ****ting England what do we expect?

Steady on Marky. I think you need to review the contents of some of your posts before making a comment like that.

more pertinently you should try to justify your above statement kidda

Momo is only 22yrs old, he barely speaks english and he is playing in the shadow of arguably the best midfielder in the world, a homegrown hero to millions of people in the city and reds fans the world over.

I'm not saying he should be intimidated or worried by it, but maybe he might be

Excuses, excuses if you ask me. Might wash if he hadn't been with us for several seasons and been 'Boss' for a lot of that...if you really want an excuse for his ****ness, maybe try the fact he hasn't been playing regularly
