    Will the real SG please stand up?

    Put two midfielders in the middle and let him play just in front of them and watch him go.
    IMO playing him alongside Masher or Momo simply does not work as recent results since his return to the team have shown. People can bang on about him being a world class centre midfielder all they like but for me he's an impact player and a pretty good one at that.
    If we want to get the best out of him - Rafa's gonna have to accomodate him somewhere else. Simple.

    So basically that's the Dirk Kuyt role. We've seen him play up there behind the main striker and he's not been too hot there, but then again, who would be playing alongside Crouch or Kuyt

      This does raise the question - do we need Steven Gerrard?
      When fit, I would prefer Alonso alongside Mascherano.
      Alonso comes out of his shell when Gerrard isn't around, Masch is supreme in the 'Hamann' role.
      Rather than stick Gerrard out wide right which he clearly dislikes, could it be that the time has come to sell him to the highest bidder?
      The funds raised could overhall one or two other problem positions, wide left/left back/second striker, even wide right if Pennant decides he's lost interest.

          Do you want us to rent the new Anfield out to Everton aswell because we can get money for it?

            I see how it works now;
            I express an opinion, somebody on the internet who doesn't know me calls me a clown and then spouts some bollocks analagy that makes no sense.
            I think I get it, here's my response;

            You sir, can **** right off.
            I bet you think I should go and buy a second hand Volvo and drive it backwards down the M6 wearing nothing but a pair of orange pants?

              There are opinions and there are OPINIONS

              You can't expect to be taken seriously when you suggest we should sell our captain and most important player in team, can you?

                I think youre bang on there mate

                He has far bigger impact for me, coming from the right. Whenever hes played there, it hasnt been a rigid position and clearly Rafa has given him licence to roam, which is good because Stevies positional sense isnt the best, and he influences our play far more from there.

                For all the fuss made about him being in the centre, thats not where i think hes best.

                  In my opinion, Gerrard is not above dropping. He shouldn't be guaranteed his starting place, and again in my opinion, Alonso and Mascherano work better together than Gerrard with either of them.

                        I think I'd take 35million for him. The whole Chelsea thing makes it easier to consider for me.

                          I tend to agree with Johnny H, Stevie G just isn't really working out in the middle, though i wouldn't go to the extent of selling him.

                          I know it's just opening up a can of worms again, but i'd stick him on the right and give him a bit of freedom. Playing in the centre, IMO he doesn't seem to get many shots in on goal, and you never see him making those marauding runs anymore as he's worried about leaving space behind him.

                          Right is best.

                            At least it'd give Andy Gray an excuse to endlessly blather on about something other than rotation.

                              He'll continue to as well, for as long as its having such a negative effect on results and performances.

                              I know he prattles on about it a lot, but a lot of what he says is right IMO.
