Man had i been there we could have had a Dida situation with me running at Benayoun with a clothesline (followed swiftly by Momo, Crouch etc) , he is so frustrating, bloody lightweight who gave the ball away all the time, then he almost scored
Pennant much more solid down the right, is a good outlet and does provide crosses and options in the attacks.
Pennant might not be everyone's cup of of tea and there are undoubtedly better right wingers out there, but he's the best (only?) natural winger we have.
Christ - some people on here actually thought having Pennant suspended for this game was a positive.

Pennant don't stay out wide. He cuts inside a lot.
Have anyone of you really seen Pennant play for us?
Just believe and you never know what will happen.
According to Benitez it's important not simply to go out to win but to go out prepared to win, which means players have to put in the same level of work on a daily basis. Anything else is unacceptable.
Pennant has been **** the last games just as many other players.

When he has the ball he cuts inside and he goes outside like any winger should but when attack he always has chalk on his boots and stays out wide he doesn't do what Yossi does and float all over the midfield. Face facts AFII we missed him last night and your comment after the Porto game just makes you look foolish

The question is why does he do this, when at Brum he stayed wide?, Why has Kuyt gone from a prolific goalscorer (albeit in Holland) to a 2nd striker verging on a midfielder, why has the defensive holding style midfielder Momo tried to become a swash buckling all action midfielder when his passing games is no way near good enough to do this etc etc
Our wide players cuts inside a lot and that means that our left and right back should attack down the wings but they don't, not enough anyway.
Arbeloa are probably our best defender doing that.

Anyone remember during the 2nd half last night, yossi pushed in with the ball and Steve finnan had to run full burst down to the right wing to create a bit of play?

Rafa needs to let some of the players play their more natural game. Kuyt might be a goal poacher, haven't seen that so far. Pennant can be the best crosser in the world and do it on a consistant level- not seen that either. Momo can recreate his form when he came to Liverpool- well, thats his fault but I think the buck the stops with some of the players at times. Some of them need to gamble. The best wingers aren't the ones who only cross balls in the box but also get to that back post and finish the scraps. Brilliant example was Petrov on Saturday- that guy bust a gut to get to that back post. It wasn't the best ball from Ireland but he made something of it. Maybe Pennant should take a leaf out of his book and maybe Rafa should loosen the shackles on him, he can be a real problem for oppositions.

if this is the case our fullbacks are no way good enough, Finan solid as an ox but certainly no Cafu, don't get me started on Riise.
