Maybe so but if Im at the game and someone cant pass a ball 5 yards, why should I let that slide? Me yelling 'Thats ****in **** that' is highlighting my passion as much as me shouting 'well in' when they do something good isnt it? If I wasnt supporting then Id sit in silence wouldnt I?Bill Oddie, Bill Oddie, put your hands all over my body.

That's the ideal, of course, but it's not wrong to boo someone who is being paid tens of thousands of your cash to do a job and they are not even trying.Originally posted by Frodo View PostTo be fair, i can see Fredo's point.

Supporters support, but by the same token aren't players supposed to play? They didn't last night.Originally posted by Gordon Brown

Don't you think it's a bit off-putting for the players when even the stewards are jumping up and shouting "that's ****ing ****"?Originally posted by The Glove View PostMaybe so but if Im at the game and someone cant pass a ball 5 yards, why should I let that slide? Nought wrong complaining, but to jump on a players back throughout the match because you can't stand him is a bit much.Originally posted by The Glove View PostMaybe so but if Im at the game and someone cant pass a ball 5 yards, why should I let that slide? It would be interesting to hear a player HONESTLY answer whether booing/swearing etc helps them improve their performance or (blind) support/encouragement from the fans does.We come not to play.

I sit pitch side, I dont need to jump up. I just wait till they come over to me.

I was starting to think I was the only one who picked up on that.Originally posted by ShaggyAlonso View PostYou ****ted him?
Charming.
Otherwise I agree entirely. Hate whingers at the match. Save it for the pub or the car on the way home. Not at the match.
****ting a fellow Red wouldn't have been my response though.
Oh I don't know.

Booing can seriously dent a players confidence if you look at it closely. Momo clearly was perturbed and lost it last night. His first touch was poor (amongst other players) and that's symptomatic.Originally posted by The Glove View PostBut its a game of football they are paying a lot of money to watch. You shout at the telly when you watch it dont you? Oh hang on, you probably dont.
Yes we're passionate but I don't think it's right booing players though, and I don't think the whole stadium did.

Oh well that's a different matter. I was talking about a justified reaction to a poor poerformance. Getting on a player's back who is trying their best is a different matter, booing someone wholacks effort is justified IMO.Originally posted by Frodo View PostNought wrong complaining, but to jump on a players back throughout the match because you can't stand him is a bit much.Originally posted by Gordon Brown

If a player is being picked on because he isnt liked then thats out of order because basically that player isnt ever going to win. But if a player is getting abuse because of his substandard efforts on the pitch then I think thats fair enough.
You'll also find though that for as much as one player gets a bollocking, they'll get the same support. How many times will you hear, for example 'Come on Momo lad, thats it, go ed, oh youre ****in **** you'. Now that is encouraging but then the player ****s up and is bollocked.Bill Oddie, Bill Oddie, put your hands all over my body.

And let's not forget the racial remarks which could be the result of an escalating level of frustration amongst supporters.

If his first touch was any good at any point in the game, he wouldn't have got booed.
It was the worst midfield display I have ever seen.
I don't like the booing myself but I had to correct you on that one.Oh I don't know.

Agreed, I make a big effort to see my team, as most people do, but i'm there good times and bad. I don't boo at the end of a game, but i'm not afraid to shout get ur arse moving stevie or what ever, and feel i'm entitled to and all.Originally posted by The Glove View PostMaybe so but if Im at the game and someone cant pass a ball 5 yards, why should I let that slide? I did my shouting last night too, the effort was so disappointing, and I brought my mate to the kop for his first time, it was a strange atmosphere tbh
Referee Lubos Michel said: “If my assistant referee had not signalled a goal, I would have given a penalty, and sent off goalkeeper Petr Cech.”

Nothing wrong with letting a player have it AFTER a match but players should be supported during a match - thats why we're there ffs.
Although having said that Sissoko was so bad last night i could understand some fans having a go even if i dont condone it.Fernando Torres
I dont just love him, I'm IN love with him
