It's just that Rafa's system is built around Agger passing the ball and not Hyypia hoofing it.

At least we have a decent keeper/back four who have at least some stability.
(Injuries aside)
I believe it is harder to get some consistency in this area.

Midfielders and strikers will always be available.

Having watched the Reserves the other night and then going to Anfield there wasn't too much difference in how they both performed.

My overall opinion of both games was that neither Liverpool side put in much effort and some players gave the impression that they couldn't really give a monkeys.

With the squad so big you would think that every player would be fighting for a place in the first team.

Or maybe they think that with Rafa's rotation they will get a game next week anyway, regardless of how well the have played in previous games.

Saying he's the best, 3rd, 4th, 6th whatever, its all opinions at the end of the day into where he slots in. The thing is, he's in the elite group of keepers, he doesn't need to be replaced (not that I think you were implying that).

With the squad so big you would think that every player would be fighting for a place in the first team.

As I have said. I think the squad is to big. The players know that they will be benched/dropped even if they have played excellent because another player need to play to be match fit.

That means less motivated players on the pitch.

They can't play themselves into a team and play week in week out.

That means one less thing to fight for. A player should be rewarded with a starting place in the next game if he has played a good game and not punished for it and benched/dropped.
