    rafa pulls no punches

Rafa Benitez admitted the 1-0 defeat to Marseille could have been Liverpool's worst home performance since he took over.
The result leaves the Reds third in Group A of the Champions League with one point, though four games remain.

Benitez said: "That could be the worst performance since I came here, especially at home. We didn't create much from the beginning.

"It was a poor game, we were not playing well from the beginning. We were giving the ball away and not creating chances.

"Only at the end we produced some pressure and created a little bit.

"We knew Marseille were playing better in the Champions League. They're a good team and we knew the quality was there.

"The only comfort I can take from this game is that it's finished."

Despite his disappointment, Benitez knows qualification is still well within his side's grasp.

He added: "We know in football if you want to progress you need to win. We need to win the next game.

"At this moment in time the best thing is to think about the next game. We've got Spurs here at the weekend and we'll try and get three points and then see what happens in our next game against Besiktas

going to forget about this game for good and put it in the locker of games i wish i never saw.

Well, it will be a few crucial months for the players. If they don't perform any better then they will be out.

Rafa have showed that if a player isn't good enough then he will be shipped out and replaced.

They are playing for their future Liverpool careers. I can't see any better motivation.
Just believe and you never know what will happen.

According to Benitez it's important not simply to go out to win but to go out prepared to win, which means players have to put in the same level of work on a daily basis. Anything else is unacceptable.

The squad should be fined for yesterday's performance.

If there is much more of the same, never mind the players, the pressure on Rafa will be immense. That is from the media and the fans.

If he knew we were terrible then why not make changes at half time and be done with it?

              Mascher for Momo

              Babel for Leto

              Crouch for Kuyt/Voronin

Just a thought, bot picking on these in particular but changes could've been made if he's been a bit braver.

Rafa isn't untouchable. If we end up 15+ points from the league winners then you will have to ask if he is the right man in charge if we want to win the league but he will have the whole season to prove that we at least can challenge for the league title, anything else is unacceptable.

I still want him to stay even if we don't challenge this season because I think that he is building more long term and not only for this season but the question if he is the right man should be asked if we don't challenge for the title.

Always Look on the Bright Side of Life

Some things in life are bad,
They can really make you mad,
Other things just make you swear and curse,
                  When you're chewing life's gristle,
                  Don't grumble,
                  Give a whistle
And this'll help things turn out for the best.
                  And...

Always look on the bright side of life.
                  [whistle]
Always look on the light side of life.
                  [whistle]

                  If life seems jolly rotten,
                  There's something you've forgotten,
And that's to laugh and smile and dance and sing.
When you're feeling in the dumps,
                  Don't be silly chumps.
Just purse your lips and whistle.
                  That's the thing.
                  And...

Always look on the bright side of life.
                  [whistle]
Always look on the right side of life,
                  [whistle]

                  For life is quite absurd
                  And death's the final word.
You must always face the curtain with a bow.
                  Forget about your sin.
                  Give the audience a grin.
Enjoy it. It's your last chance, anyhow.
                  So,...

Always look on the bright side of death,
                  [whistle]
Just before you draw your terminal breath.
                  [whistle]

                  Life's a piece of ****,
                  When you look at it.
                  Life's a laugh and death's a joke it's true.
                  You'll see it's all a show.
Keep 'em laughing as you go.
Just remember that the last laugh is on you.
                  And...

Always look on the bright side of life.
Always look on the right side of life.

The way I see it, yesterday was a good time to lose. It gives enough time to get the squad into shape and refocus some of the players minds before the next game. The result is not going to harm us as much as if we'd lost in the league and it gives a wakeup call to those that were perhaps getting a bit complacent.

Could be a blessing in disguise.

"Sky and Setanta have the right to choose their games and it will be the same for everyone. So Mr Ferguson will not be complaining about fixtures and a campaign against United.

"Or there is another option. That Mr Ferguson organises the fixtures in his office and sends it to us and everyone will know and cannot complain. That is simple."

Apparently Crouch was already on the field in the first half, Jay, but replacing him with two players might have given us an unfair advantage. We'd probably still have lost, though...

Don't worry, there is an international break coming up!
I can picture in my mind a world without war, a world without hate. And I can picture us attacking that world, because they'd never expect it.
