Exactly. He'll be 35 next season - I think if he was looking at it realistically, being in the LFC squad at that age is a bonus.

There is a lot of central defenders that don't hoof the ball.
I have seen every one of them bar heitinga hoof the ball on many occasions. I have never seen heitinga play

Puyol is a no nonsense defender and certainly no great passer of the ball from defense. Hyppia is an excellent ball playing center half but in the premier league it is extremely difficult to play the ball out of defense and find a player if the movement is not top class. There's so much pressure on the player who's on the ball.

Sami has basically said he will stay next year if offered a contract, which Rafa has flagged already if I am not mistaken. It looks to me that it is a formality that Sami will get his testimonial and I for one will not begrudge him that.
Nah. He won't win the Prem. You can quote me on that. - Sarb24

Everyone has seen how much our attacking play has been affected with Agger out and Hyypia in.

Rafa's tactic is suited to Agger, not Hyypia.
It would certainly be a bonus if one of the younger, quicker defenders playing in the reserves made the step up at some point.

Sami is a living legend though.
                  That's the one...

It was at Hillsborough, but I take your point anyway.

Didnt know that. No doubt a game you would remember regardless.

Not THAT time at Hillsborough - that would mean Sami made his debut for us in 1989. That would make him about 45.

No it was Hillsborough in about 1999. Titi Camara made his debut too (massive Guinea flag in the Leppings Lane end) along with Smicer, Hamann (went off injured after about 10 minutes), Henchoz and a few others.

Won 2-1 (I think)...Fowler and Titi the goalscorers, Benito Carbone pulled one back for them with a beauty.

Amazing that I remember that given that I'd supped about 12 pints before kick off.

I knew that, although perhaps didn't make it clear.

Surely any visit to Hillsborough is something you would remember is where I was coming from.

Mind you after 12 pints memory is optional
