LFC v Spurs - Build up

Okay haven't seen one of these threads this week -

So we've got Agger, Alonso, Kewell, Aurelio out injured for this one, Referee is Mark Halsey, and Spurs haven't beaten us at home in something like 13 years.

What are we expecting from this one, Liverpool to strike back or continue the fairly ****ty run we're on at the moment

the run cant continue............ someone is in for a hiding shortly and to be honest spurs are **** at the back

on the other side of the coin they have some pace up top so i hope sami does not get caught out... there will be goals

going to go for 4-2 to the champions elect on this one....

    and im going !!!!!

Another toothless performance with a 1-1 scoreline - sorry but i'm just being honest and you did ask.

Hopefully we'll buck our idea's up.

Spurs have injuries, a **** keeper and we need to take advantage of this. It's about time Kuyt opened his account for the season too. Defensively we're sound although Spurs have some good attacking options - better than Wigan, Brum and Pompey so we'll have a test tomorrow.

If Stevie G, Kuyt and Torres can put in a good performance each then there's no reason why we won't win. Get Mascher back in the middle. I can see us getting a 2-0 result, that'll do me.

        Team??

        Reina
        Finnan Carragher Arbeloa Riise
        Pennant Gerrard Mascherano Babel
        Torres Kuyt

If we play as bad as we have done the last five games then Spurs will have a walk in the park.

We will win the game if the players are mentally prepared to fight for everything.
Just believe and you never know what will happen.

According to Benitez it's important not simply to go out to win but to go out prepared to win, which means players have to put in the same level of work on a daily basis. Anything else is unacceptable.

I think you're close but more likely Arbeloa left back with Hyypia in the middle with either babel or riise on LW, hopefully babel, unless rafa wants to surprise us and play him up front with torres

Yeah it's that bloody left hand side again! I remember at the start of last season - people on lfc.tv were saying how strong our left hand side was, with Aurelio, Riise, Warnock, Kewell etc. How times have changed!!

I'd love to see Babel up front with Torres, they'd destroy Spurs' defence

I'm expecting a narrow win 1-0. We'll play ****e and win in 86th minute via penalty. Scorer Torres.

                That's it

Ralisitcally if you look at our left sided players

                  Aurelio
                  Riise
                  Kewell
                  Babel

Not one of them would you trust fully in the LB role, and I think that's going to be a priority signing for Rafa next window. imo rafa knows this and is why he's gone with Arbeloa more often than not.

The only problem is I don't really see any of them as great on the LW either, Kewell would be but he's too injury prone and needs to go, I think it's inevitable that Babel will move off the wing in coming seasons, only leaving Riise and Aurelio and I don't think either are good enough to be there week in week out, they are okay as backups, but I think we need a LW and an LB.

I think the backlash will begin against Spurs.

They are in disarray and we need to take advantage of that.

                    I see a morale boosting 3-0 win.

Agree with most of that. I still like Riise but I think he's more of a squad player now

Arbeloa needs to compete with Finnan for the RB spot, we need a no nonsense LB, and a killer LW who can win games for us and terrorise defences.

                      Who though?!

Horrendous game to predict, I remember last season Spurs had a glorious chance to score with an open goal at either 0-0 or 1-0 to us, they missed and we went down the other end and scored about a minute later. The eventual 3-0 scoreline was a bit flattering to us.

I hope we win this one but the fact is under Rafa lately I go into games with hope rather than expectation and can see Spurs getting a result, their pace could cause us some problems.

We've used 8 different players in the left-mid slot alone this season at various stages during games, left-back has been a bit better with only 3 as far as I recall. I think Riise would do a fine job at left-back if he had a settled partner on that side of the pitch instead of a variety of players that are not naturally suited to the role.

Bloodyhell, I remember that now. They dominated I think, Jenas hit the post around the 70th min at 0-0, it rolled out to one of our CBs, we broke. Ball came across the box, Bellamy missed a sitter but Kuyt (I think) tucked it home.

IMO Riise is a liability at LB, he leaves too much space and doesn't mark players particularly well, after seeing Arbeloa play there surely you notice the difference between the two. We need an arbeloa type player for the left and hopefully, arbeloa can then be finnans successor on the right when the time comes.
