didn't bother reading the rest of the thread once i read this. totally on the money. anyone who thinks that SG is an influential creative central midfielder is guilty of believing press hype and indeed our own hype about him.Originally posted by JohnDoe View PostGerrard is showing time and time again why he's an impact player and not a playmaker. He was struggling to dictate our play, no vision or game intelligence that you should expect from your "main man" in attack. At times it was so apparent that Mascherano decided to pull the strings and we actually looked better.
When Alonso is back, Gerrard should move over. Unless we've got a Pablo Aimar behind Torres, Gerrard shouldn't be a part of the CM duo.
this is not to take away from his fantastic abilities but right wing or off the main striker are the only places for him. and a playmaker like xabi is the perfect foil for SG if he was let do what he's good at by rafa.
i honestly think that rafa doesn't quite know what to do with SG. if it's a manager's job to get the absolute best out of his players, then it's just not happening with SG. as always, though, if you're to ask what is wrong with him at the moment i'd say firstly, give him a chance because he had a couple of very good games and secondly what's wrong with SG is what will always be wrong with him - erratic mental strength.Felching ≠ Gerbilling

I really think its time he was dropped for a bit. He doesn't seem a 100% to me at all.

I still don't think we'll finish in the top 4 this season."
