State of Origin

As everyone else is doing their best current eleven, best ever eleven, player swaps, wife swap ... etc etc thread I thought I would come up with another one. Inspired by Austrailian Rugby League who have a contest called the State of Origin, where all players born in Queensland play against all the players born in New South Wales. Expanding on this a little and changing the rules to make it a little easier I was thinking if a good money spinner would be a North vs South game by the EPL. Now, praticalities aside, players getting injured and so on and so forth (this is fantasy if you will). What is the best team that the North could put together and what's the best the South could offer and who'd win? Here's my crack anyhow. It's a first stab, is attacking (rather than balanced) and favours the big teams rather than the use of any football knowledge or intelligence. What can you come up with?

Think your North -v- South game is a great idea, one I thought should have been done years ago, would be like the all star game in the NBA. Fans could vote for the players they want to be included in the teams and proceeds could go to charity etc.

Maybe Mascherano instead of Lennon. Yeap. Finnan istead of Dot. Yeap possibly. Duff instead of Giggs. Ummmmmmmmmmmmm. I'd put Duff on the bench. I'd also get Shearer out of retirement and a fit Owen would probably get in ahead of Kuyt, based on past form.

The other way to do this and more true to the original idea, but less interesting and exciting is to use players who are actually born in the North or South (call Birmingham the divide). Now I haven't got the fainest idea where everyone was born but the North would defo win as this is where the best footballers come from!!
